Where do I see steemit in the next 5 years...
Steemit no doubt since its coming into the internet and blockchain space has revolutionised and reengineered the WWW we previously know. Steemit so far has created a positive impact on us and the blockchain, creating a community where you earn as you learn
Earning as you learn!
So, not to bore us with the preamble, let me delve straight into the meat of the matter.
Steemit in 5years
I will be partitioning my discuss into several headings which will include
- The Steemit population (Steemians)
- The Steem blockchain
- Effect of Steemit on cryptocurrency
- The impact of steemit on the world
- Conclusion.
**Note: I will prognosticate on the good and bad future for each subtopic
The steemit Population
As at April, 2018 there were over 950,000 steemians according to information on Wikipedia. This is a wonderful figure and in the next 5years should be above 5million mark with the sporadic gospel of steemit everywhere

But the question we need to ask ourselves is this , How many active Steemians would there be?

I'm guessing 3/5th of registered users
Bad Prognosis

The Steem Blockchain
We've all seen the wonderful path the steem blockchain has been going and I know it SHOULD better.
But like in all Human endeavours, we humans are naturally greedy and selfish
All Human are naturally greedy and selfish.
Unless we make conscious efforts to escape from this our inherent evil nature, we have the tendencies to behave like our forefathers who were only concerned with the glory of conquering the world for their selfish gains.
The steem blockchain have the good, the bad and ugly with us here. And this brings out the human race : The steem blockchain would survive but my prognosis will
Good prognosis
We weed ourselves of this selfish humans, and leave the steem blockchain on people running the platform based on non-selfish acts. Then steem will continue serving its primary purpose of rewarding the voiceless and untalented

Bad prognosis
The greedy stay put, steem becomes for the selfish ones, then the good and compassionate are in the very minority. Steem fails in its primary purpose and becomes like other cryptocurrency
Effect of Steemit on the CryptoWorld
No doubt, the coming of steemit has changed the cryptoworld for the good. Where you mine for coins with contents. How wonderful!

Good Prognosis
Other cryptocurrencies either pass away, evolve to be like steemit or simply adopt steem and steem dollar as a major purchasing coin. This boosts the steem economy because, contents are ready meals
Contents, are ever ready meals!
Bad prognosis
People tend to give up on steemit because of poor incentives and encouragements, steem then becomes worse off and therefore the greedy cryptoworld win!
Effect of Steemit on the World
Following all the good prognosis, steemit would be a major boost to the world economy and help alleviate poverty and also make good content available all over the web space.
If the bad prognosis persist, the evil manipulators of the world economy win, many remain in poverty, and our dreams remain dreams!

In five (5) years, we would love ❤️ to see steemit on the world map driving several initiatives via its numerous potentials, communities and apps.
But as in all human creation, though we wish for the best, let's get prepared to face the tetraheaded eveil called the worst.

Not everyone. Maybe most of them (or a lot of them), but not everyone.
Other than that, I agree with your post. There are a lot of greedy and selfish people on Steemit.
But as you said: "The steem blockchain have the good, the bad and ugly with us here."
So not everyone is greedy and selfish. There are also good and helpful people here, who support the community members.
I believe it's our conditioning that makes us leave our greedy nature and turn out either - Good or Ugly.
But anyway, it's just how I have seen the life so far. I wish to be changed from this my view
