Sitting at desk in office at one of my stores. Kind of fun little office the previous owner built. Has a nice little Ikea looking desk and some cabinets plus a window that looks into the kitchen. A real window, it opens has a screen, everything. I keep the door open also so I guess it’s not necessary. Desk has a computer – the server for the store, phone, and miscellaneous debris from running the store. A couple of toner cartridges – one empty, some broken containers waiting for refund from vendor, pile of bills including a folder with some disputed bills and correspondence, bank deposit envelope, bag of rubber bands, various broken stuff hoping to be repaired, extra HVAC unit filter, pens, markers, post-its, padlocks we use when we have extra season storage space. A little of everything and a lot of nothing.
I leave the door open so I can listen and see into the kitchen. Clara runs kitchen so no worries but good to keep up with what’s going on and how people are getting along. 4 people here this morning. Good crew. College student, semi-retired lady that was born in Hong Kong, 20 something that coaches high school gymnastics in the afternoon, Latina with a husband that is stationed on the nearby army base. All get along which is the most important thing. My father told me years ago “Hire attitude, train skills”. Applies even more here because this isn’t rocket science. Anyone that wants to can pick up the skills. But a good attitude can’t be trained. Or more to the point a bad attitude if very hard to change.
Well I came here for a reason, some work to do and other places to be this afternoon. So that concludes Tuesday’s Free Write

Excellent quote and advice.
thanks @rentmoney
I love what your father told you: “Hire attitude, train skills”! He is a wise man, as you can't train attitude for sure!
Yes he is :) thanks @icybc
I think your father is a very intuitive man. That is a great lesson.
Sounds kind of relaxed and fun for work?!
thanks @nananini most of the time it is fun :)
