I went by boat to a remote region in Samboanga del Sur Philippines.
My wife @ronafe and I are full time missionaries in the Philippines. I went to this region to preach the Godpel as that is our primary mission here. Most don’t realize what it is like to live in a Third World Country. Many of the big cities have huge malls and seems everyone is dressed nicely and drive a great car. Restaurants are full and the food seems plentiful.
But when you get to a remote village like where I just visited, what you see will amaze, shock and many times cause you to cry!
The following photos are of kids that are not in school. The ones on the island seem to be well fed. The problem is the cost to transport the children to the mainland each day and back home in the evenings. There is no other plan unless someone were to build a school on one of the islands.
In my morning rounds, this morning I saw an older lady sleeping actually in the street and 3 young boys sleeping on the side walk. I delivered hot bread to both and others this morning. I just see the contrast between these boys and this old lady. One day, without some intervention, these young boys could wind up like her.

You can tell by the dirt ground in the children's skin they are not attending school.
Now check out these island kids. Dressed nicely and fed well! Lots of fish, crab and shrimp. But no education and no regular church attendance.
Is the possible solution to build a church and use it for school during the week?
The kids that do go to school travel by boat twice a day, 5 days a week.
