You should in no way need to apologise for not getting the auto votes out. And if there are people in your ear about missing their votes, maybe this is a great time to reevaluate if they belong on your list in the first place. Kudos to you for doing your best to manually curate, what I am sure is a very demanding feed. You can only do what you can do, anyone who expects more than you are prepared to give is just a leach. LOL
