Chess problem 51 / Schachaufgabe 51

in #chess9 years ago (edited)

English

This time I present you a position which arose in a chess software test game between the programs Ktulu 3.9 (which I was beta testing these days) and SmarThink 0.17a. By the way Ktulu is an Iranian chess program and SmarThink Russian.

SmarThink was attacking with the black pieces, and amazingly just in the moment when it seemed that white was already out of the wood, black found a very surprising and strong attacking move ... which one?
(There are actually two moves which guarantee a black advantage, but one of them is clearly stronger and wins faster than the other one.)

Only human "biobrains" are allowed to solve this riddle - have fun now! :)

Black to move: / Schwarz am Zug:

Hi @jaki01. Here my possible solution:

1... Re2+!
If White take on e2 with the King , white will lose the Rook, the Bishop and probabbly checkmate:

  1. ...Re2+
  2. Kxe2 Qxg2+
  3. Ke1 Bb4+
  4. Rd2 Qxd2+
  5. Kf1 Qxd3+

However, if white take the Rook with the Bishop:

  1. ....Re2+ 2. Bxe2 d3+ 3. Kf1 dxe2+ 4.Kxd2 Qd3+ Kf1 Qf2#
  1. ... Re2+
  2. Bxe2 d3+
  3. Ke1

3.. Ke1 Qe3
4.. Rxd3 Qc1+
5.. Rd1 Bb4+
6.. Kf1 Qxc8 Niceee

3 . ... Qd3 is an impossible move! :)

3 . ... Qe3 sorry hahaha :)

OK, now I grant you the well deserved winner cup! :)

Thanks dude, I like your chess problems because they are very instructive :)

LG
Jan

Danke! :)

Something like this?

1 ... Re2
2 Bxe2 Pd3!
3 Kf1 Pxe2!
4 Kxe2 Qe3!

With white I would play:

  1. ... Re2+
  2. Bxe2 d3+
  3. Ke1

Along the right lines at least!

Yes, you did well, too! :)

As for the second best move you asked: how about 1. ....Qh4+? ,
if:
a) 2.g3 - Qxh2 -+
b) 2.Kg1 - Re1+ 3.Rxe1 (3.Bf1 - Rxd1 4.Qc5 - Qe1 5. Qc4 d3 6.Qd4+ Kh7 7.Qf2 - d2 and wins) - Qxe1 4. Bf1 - Qe3+ ! 5.Kh1 - d3 threating mate on g1 with no defence left.
c) 2.Kf1 simply Qxh2 should win on the long run.
Do you agree with all that?

Klar. Die Aufgabe war trotzdem interessant :-)

maybe 1...Bb4

Whole variations, please! :)
After

  1. ... Bb4 white plays
  2. g3. Your task is to get a big advantage with black!

Well, you have asked only for one move :)

  1. ... Bb4
  2. g3 Qe3+
  3. Kg2 Be1
  1. ...Bb4
  2. g3 Qe3+
  3. Kg2 Be1
  4. Qc2 ... ? Convincing for black? :)

SmarThink, Russian chess programme played various tournaments in Russia, and became Russian computer chess champion in 2004.

Right, it was a very interesting program. (By the way you seem to be interested in some of my articles, but I wonder why you never upvote them - any special reason?)

Not really.. Actually i never had a habit of free writing.. i mean writing stories, poems, songs or interesting articles.. so my writing quality is too bad.. but after joining on steemit i am getting interests on writing and photography.. thatswhy i decided to follow good content writers.. read their regular posts, try to increase the border of my thinking and at the last try to make a good comment to increase my writing quality.. i hope if i continue like this, one day will come i will start to write quality full contents.. thats all.. i like your writings.. so what i can say from next time i will upvote you too.

:-)
