My visit to the Chihuly Garden and Glass

Chihuly Garden and Glass

While I was on the west coast we did the tourist thing and visited the Chihuly Garden and glass exhibition.

Dale Chihuly
Born in 1941 in Tacoma, Washington, Dale Chihuly was introduced to glass while studying interior design at the University of Washington. After graduating in 1965, Chihuly enrolled in the first glass program in the country, at the University of Wisconsin. He continued his studies at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he later established the glass program and taught for more than a decade.

It's pretty amazing how this guy did all of the blown glass. The guy is a truly a master. I don't know how long it took for him to blow all this glass. But if you look at the pictures some there must be hundreds of individually blown glass tubes there in each piece. And then the time it took to put that stuff all together. Just crazy.

So if you're ever in Seattle I suggest you get a city pass, which gives you entry to this and other attractions, and take a trip over to the museum and take a look.
