Being able to accept things beyond our choice

in #choicelast year

There are many things in life that we cannot choose or control, no matter how hard we try. These can include things like the circumstances of our birth, the family and community we are raised in, and the events and experiences that shape our lives. While it can be difficult to accept that there are some things beyond our control, it is an important part of living a healthy and fulfilling life.

One of the first steps in being able to accept things beyond our choice is to recognize that we are not in complete control of everything that happens to us. This can be a challenging concept to accept, as we often like to think that we have control over our lives and the things that happen to us. However, the reality is that there are many factors at play that shape our experiences, and we cannot control all of them.

For example, we cannot choose the country or culture we are born into, or the family that raises us. We cannot control the natural disasters or societal events that occur around us. And we cannot predict or control the actions or decisions of others.

It is natural to want to hold onto a sense of control in our lives, as it can give us a sense of security and stability. However, trying to hold onto this sense of control can also lead to frustration, disappointment, and stress when things don't go the way we want them to.

Instead, learning to accept the things that are beyond our control can bring a sense of peace and freedom. It allows us to let go of the need to control everything and to focus on the things that we can control, such as our thoughts, actions, and attitudes.

One way to practice acceptance is through mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of bringing our attention to the present moment, without judgment. When we are mindful, we are able to notice and acknowledge our thoughts and feelings as they arise, without getting caught up in them. This can help us to approach difficult situations with a sense of acceptance and equanimity, rather than resistance or struggle.

Another way to practice acceptance is through gratitude. Gratitude is the practice of focusing on the things that we have, rather than dwelling on what we lack. This can help us to shift our focus from the things that are beyond our control to the things that we do have control over, such as our own choices and actions.

It can also be helpful to seek support and guidance from others when we are struggling to accept things beyond our control. This can be in the form of therapy, support groups, or seeking out the wisdom of friends and loved ones. Talking about our struggles and seeking perspective from others can help us to feel less alone and to find new ways of coping with difficult situations.

It is important to remember that acceptance does not mean giving up or resigning ourselves to a difficult situation. It simply means acknowledging the reality of the situation and finding ways to move forward in a healthy and positive way.

Ultimately, being able to accept things beyond our choice is about learning to live with uncertainty and letting go of the need for complete control. It is a journey that requires practice and patience, but it can lead to greater resilience, happiness, and well-being.
