Often times we see Men that are very pivotal to the things of God and like wise see men that walk in opposite direction.
Been a man of God or to be a man that God uses involves quite a number of sacrifices. People do a number of things to get the necessary back up or power that they need from God.
It ranges from several days dry fast,fruits fast,vigils and so on. Some even try to live modest and rightly,just to being used by the Almighty God.
Some men even get close to man of God to get almost the same power as he has by doing various things like cleaning their shoes,washing their clothes,giving them gifts just to get used by God. They do all sorts just to be used by God.
In my little experience as a christain, i will say what really matter about being used by God is-
Motive and Motivation; this is the fundamental determinant for the power and glory of God upon a man's life. People do a lots just to be called men of God,they have wrong motives towards the work of God. The state of your heart really matter to God before He gives you his power.
A reference to the bible in the book of John 12 vs 1-6, we will realise that the motive of Judah towards the woman that poured expensive perfume from her alabaster box on Jesus. We can see from here that Judah was saying that the perfume 
should have been sold and used to take care of the poor,meanwhile He wanted the money to come back to church account so that He can steal it since He's the treasurer of the church.
We can see that the major reason Judah joined the minstry of Jesus christ was to make money by following Him.
I pray we have the intention and the motive of Love towards our Lord Jesus as He has loved even before we know Him.
