Victory over fear for love

Fear An invisible feeling with visible results.

Fear is a kind of prison. Parola, freeze, atrophy, amaze, discourage, mine forces, tires, saddens and oppresses. These effects radiate from the inside to the outside. They accept the soul and the body.

Fear of being abandoned, of being rejected. Fear of being alone, of being humiliated and ashamed. Fear of failure, of failing as a wife, as a husband, as a father, as a mother and also of the failure of children.

Fear of not overcoming pains, traumas, of not being able to forget or forgive. Fear of what they think about you, what they talk about you and discover their most intimate faults.

Afraid that the situation you're living through will never happen. Afraid that money will not enter, that work will end and that shame will come. Fear of losing the people you love so much.

It may be that fear has disrupted their way of living, taking out the brightness of the mornings, of the day-to-day tasks, of their work and of their way of relating. However, there is good news: None of your fears compare to the size of Jesus' love for you.

Once, his disciples were also taken for fear. A great storm ravaged the small ship in which they were and, incredible as it seemed, while the ship was shaken by the strong wind, Jesus slept.

Afflicted and dominated by fear, they awakened Jesus by censoring. How could he be so calm in the midst of such a spooky and, apparently, uncontrolled situation? To the surprise of all, with only one command, Jesus rebuked the storm and immediately dissipated and everything calmed down.

Before this event, it is possible to imagine the face of the disciples taken, now, by a new horror. "Who is it that even the wind and the sea obey him?" (Mc 4.41). Their fear was, then, replaced by the fear of Jesus.

What is the size of God's power? There are no limits! Remember that there is an almighty God who does not consider you an enemy, but who, on the contrary, loves you abundantly, is the best way to overcome fear.

In Paul's letter to the Romans (Rm 8.31-39), the apostle consoles that persecuted church, afflicted by the unpredictability of life and by the tortures and hard separations that death brought to Christians every day. In the midst of so much misfortune, there was a greater and infinite grace: the love of Jesus.

Paul knew that the church in Rome needed the comfort brought by that memory, and you, of the same fate, also need to remember it.

There is nothing in that world that has the power to separate us from the love of Christ, and that truth is the instrument of ultimate victory against fear. That is why Paul declares: "In all these things, nevertheless, we are more than conquerors, through him who loved us" (Rm 8.37).

Even if you have received Christ as your Savior, believing in him and in the forgiveness of your sins, even so, in the way of life, you may come to face several battles against fear. You know why? You are a new creature (2 Cor. 5.17), however, the old nature is still susceptible to the circumstances that hit you. The difference is that, for the love of Jesus, you no longer need to be chained to anxiety and fear, because Jesus himself offers himself as a consolation and instrument to win each of these battles. You need to constantly remember and fill in those truths!

To overcome your fears, you need to remember who you are in Jesus Christ, and that must be done every day. Every day is a readjustment. Every morning is a new story! Daily you will face yourself and all your fears. That is why every day you urgently need the grace and mercy of God renewed in your life.
