Tangibility of Grace of God cont.
1Jo 5:11-12 says;
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
Life may be broadly defined as that essence responsible for the animation of living beings. There are three types of life, and they are listed in order of superiority; the life of God, animal life (Land and Sea) and plant life.
Each life is characterised by a generic form of living. The life that animates animals causes them to function in a particular way; that is, they each have a common characteristics of living. The character of a plant life differs from that of animals. Though each animal behaves differently according to their species,yet the characteristics of the life inside them remain the same. For example, identical twin children, though animated by the same human life, they grow up behaving differently.
John teaches that anyone who has received Jesus as their Lord and personal saviour will immediately be imparted with this new life from God; they are therefore expected to lead a particularly different quality of life from that of animals and plants. This life of God in our recreated spirits allows us to function as gods in this life.
The goal of the gospel isn't to set humanity free from sin, the devil and the world, but to make us free from these and to enable us lead the higher life in Christ.
