Our God is perfect. Christians are not.
We have messed up constantly over the years. Gandhi reputedly said something like this:
I would have become a Christian if it was not for Christians.
Yes, we have messed up. And at times we have, as individuals and collectively, misrepresented our Lord, displaying everything but the loving servant hearts He birthed in us. People like Gandhi have looked at us and they have seen the difference between our Scriptures and our actions. We have looked at one another and faced the disappointment of a brother or sister messing up. So much so that some of us have started saying, 'Please don't call me a Christian. I'll be a Jesus-follower.' Or something similar.
It would be a pity if we moved away from this beautiful name. I want the whole world to now that I am a Jesus follower. That I am His disciple. That I am His child. His servant. His friend.
And I want the whole world to know, broken as I am, that I am a Christian. Saved by grace through the simple act of placing my trust in Him. Nothing I did qualify me for His acceptance and to be called a Christian.
The name Christian was not chosen by Christians. It literally means "little Christ". The secular world around the early church saw what they were doing, recognized that they were doing similar things to what Jesus did and started calling them little Christs.
I think that is awesome!
Christ means 'chosen one'. Or THE one. So when we say Christian or little Christs we are saying little chosen ones
Even more awesome!
I often abbreviate this to 'little one'. As in 'Hi there, Little One' or 'How is it going, Little One?' Since I am bigger than most people, I get away with it. At times. But at other times people will ask and then I get to explain!
So here goes.
Thank you, Little One, for reading this blog. I pray that the One who chose you will in due course be fully formed in you. And that you will accurately reflect Him to this world. Not just by being amazing often. But by displaying His amazing grace to a desperate world.

Sorry I do not have much to discuss in your post. In my country, only Buddhism and Christianity are the two leaders of the faith and I dont belong to both.
thanks for your post, im coming from kryptonia @ziggy
Hi @ziggypepper. Thank you for always checking out my blog and responding on Kryptonia. I find it amazing that we can connect over the great divides of distance, different cultures and religions. Steemit is a special environment. Where else would you and I have met?
I'm from Vietnam, it is a country located in Southeast Asia. Have you ever been to this place? If you have not yet done, I hope you will visit my country in the near future.
I have been to Vietnam! Only to HCMC on a short visa run from Thailand. I loved the place and hope to go back but the airfare is always higher than my other choices. I would love to see other places than Saigon, but just that first impression was wonderful.
It's nice to hear you say that. Next time, if possible, I propose to you Ha Long Bay, where will be great for visitors @fitinfun
I will look - I'm off to Yangon for the next trip in May :)
No, I have never been. And I do not have any short-term plans to travel that far. But it would be awesome to see your country. Thank you for the encouragement.
I am from South Africa. It is a beautiful country and I live in Johannesburg. We have the best weather in the world. It is never too hot or too cold. When we have mild cold or heat everyone complains bitterly as if it is terrible.
I hope you get an opportunity to visit one day.
Thank you for your invitation, I always want to visit many parts of the world and of course South Africa will be one of the great places to choose @reonlouw

I really like this post very interesting. Krptonia id is @grace234
Thank you @grace234
I was raised Christian and raised my son in the church. But now I am more of a believer in God than a believer in the Bible. I feel like there have been shenanigans in our past that make me not trust what is written there.
One thing I have noticed is that the older I get the more I pray, and the more God becomes meaningful in my life. And I like church for the fellowship, but the closest one I would go to here in Bangkok is not very close or easy to get to so I have not been.
I'm coming to you from @kryptonia with the same user name.
Thank you for a great contribution once again @fitinfun! I love hearing that prayer is growing in significance in your life. Long may it continue and may your special moments with Him be many.
And if I may, I pray that a beautiful church (as in group of people not building) will erupt right on your doorstep. I love fellowship and wish it for everyone.
The Divine Romance is my favourite favourite book and this is quite something since I've been reading at least one book every week for many years now. I hope you get an opportunity to read it too.
Thank you so much for all the kinds words and prayers. I'm not reading much these days aside from online, but I will look out for this book. Thailand provides many surprising things when I least expect it!
Im reading your post from start to finish because i am interested in your post. I learned a lot in your post. Upvoted, commented and resteemed by rubelynmacion
Thank you @rubelynmacion. Appreciate you.
that messing up is so true. I have a friend who was indoctinized as christian but embraces buddism as a way of living...i would love to hear your reaction on this. kryptonia 🆔🆔 @psychkrhoz
Thank you @psychkrhoz.
I think there are many good ways to live. And that all people are amazing and very special creations. I have also enjoyed my reading about Buddism. They have an interesting philosophy and I enjoy their wisdom in certain aspects.
However, I am convinced that there is only one saviour. Jesus said this about himself:
He is either wrong or right. I have chosen to believe him and it has been the best thing I have ever done.
I love to learn more about people and how they think. And I have read extensively about the religions of the world, big and small. Looking at the fruit in my life, I am convinced my choice was the right one.
Thank you for your contribution!
thank you for your sincerity and words of wisdom @reonlouw i really appreciate your response. Some responses are truly worth an upvote yours is one of them.
Thank you @reonlouw for this post. My hubby is lately saying he wants to be called something else than "Christian" I want him to read your post!
This is so special, I am getting tears in my eyes, Thank you sooo much and God bless!
Thank you @hope777. Your affirmation is precious beyond words!
Hi, Thank you for this awesome post.
The grace with which we are saved is too vast and cannot be understood by the mere men. I am grateful to God who has brought me from kingdom of sin (darkness) to light (Righteousness).
I also prefer to be called Jesus die hard follower than Christians.
