FED ON HIS WORD

But he answered and said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

As far as feeding or eating is concerned, there's a difference between getting fed and getting fed up. For example if a person were to eat rice for breakfast and lunch, by supper he/she might be unwilling to eat rice again but might still eat yam because they are fed up with rice. On the other hand, if someone were to have a very heavy lunch he/she might not be willing to eat rice or any other food because they are well fed(full). The difference is that he who is well fed is unable to eat any other food regardless of the quality or quantity.
Bringing that to today's lesson, the word of God when fed on has the ability to so fill up our hearts that we begin to lose taste for all other kinds of pleasures.
Jesus when being tested for the lust of the flesh did not fail but rather responded with the word of God because his heart was full of the word. Matthew 12:34 states that, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh."
This tip can be helpful for us in times of fasting like it was to Jesus. If we would feed on and meditate on the word in times of fasting, we would find that our fleshly lust for food (not our bodily hunger) would be dissipated and we can continue more in fasting. Again this principle can be of much benefit to us knowing that as we feed (properly) on the word of God daily, our love for the things of the world (the luxury, the money, etc) begins to fade away and we begin to live on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.

LIFE APPLICATION
Whenever you are fasting ensure you spend time with the word and meditate on it throughout the day.
Besides this, continue to feed daily on his word that your desires for the things of the world would begin to fade away.

PRAYER
Father, teach me your ways that I may live on every word that comes out of your mouth.
