In Luke 11: 2 – 4 Jesus said, “This is how you should pray:
2: “Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. 3:Give us each day the food we need, 4: and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.”

Matthew 18: 21-22 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” 22: “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!

Romans 12: 14-18 Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15: Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16: Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! 17: Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18: Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

Colossians 3: 12-13 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves; you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13: Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Luke 6:37 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven”

Mark 11: 25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too

Psalm 86:5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.

A Prayer for forgiveness:

Heavenly Father, You are amazing in the ways that you love me and because of your great love for me, you sent Jesus to shed His Blood for me, to cleanse me and forgive me of my sins. I want you to know how much I appreciate your forgiving me of all the sins and transgressions that I have committed against you. Because you are such a great example of love and forgiveness and you have chosen to forgive me, I also choose to forgive anyone who has hurt me in any way. So this day I make a decision to forgive people who have done anything or said anything against me in a way that has wounded my heart or caused me to be offended. I ask you to help me forgive completely and let all offence go now in The Name of Jesus. I thank you that you examine my heart and make sure that I am no longer carrying any burden, offence or unforgiveness towards anyone for any reason. I thank you for forgiving me for any sin associated with being offended or not forgiving as Your Holy Word requires of me. I thank you that I am now free and there is no longer anything that effects my relationship with You. I continually choose to forgive anyone, for any reason, anytime and always. It is done and it is so in Jesus Holy and Wonderful Name. Amen

In conclusion remember anytime that we are in a battle with darkness regarding a situation where we find ourselves contending with offence or forgiveness, we must consider how we are forgiven every time we seek the mercies of our God. Although we were forgiven for our sins at Calvary's Cross, accessing it is only by faith! We sometimes fail to understand the unlimited amount of forgiveness and mercy available to us from our Loving Father God through Jesus and to receive it we only need to confess our sin, ask forgiveness and claim it.
