Lamentations 3.22-25

Imagine if someone asks you if God has been good to you. What is the first thing that comes to mind? Do you think about material things like a house or a car? Those things are excellent, but even if you do not have any external sign of your blessings, you can still say God has been good to you.

The goodness of God is expressed through his mercy. In general, we speak of the mercy of the Lord in relation to his plan of salvation, which rescues us from slavery to sin. However, God is also interested in us when we are suffering. The blind beggar Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus for mercy, and the Lord responded by healing his eyes (Mr 10.46-52). Nothing in Bartimaeus deserved mercy, but the nature of God responds to the needs of his beloved children.

The goodness of God is expressed through his grace. None of us, no matter how good behavior we have, deserves God's favor. However, the Lord, in his goodness, felt guilt and suffered the death penalty in our place. When we are saved, we are invited to live by the grace of God and, therefore, to constantly receive their favor and help.

The goodness of God is expressed through his love. The Pacific Ocean, a sorrow of its immensity, seems a drop in comparison with the limitless love of the Lord. No sin can bring color beyond the reach of his love.

Think of everything the Father has done for you! He sent his son Jesus for his sins, now he offers mercy and grace to live.
