“You have criticized me sharply,” says the Lord, “but you ask, ‘How have we criticized you?’
You have said, ‘It is useless to serve God. How have we been helped by keeping his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord who rules over all?
So now we consider the arrogant to be happy; indeed, those who practice evil are successful. In fact, those who challenge God escape!’”
Then those who respected the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord took notice. A scroll was prepared before him in which were recorded the names of those who respected the Lord and honored his name.
Word for Today: For the scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” – Romans 10:11.
Inspiring Commentary:
“Is it really worth it?” is a question that is bound to arise in the heart of every true believer at one time or the other in the course of pilgrimage. The question came forcefully and painfully to my heart after a series of tragic deaths of some dearly beloved brethren actively involved in God’s service. The agony was crushing and the question urgent – crying out for an answer and meaning to the seemingly pointless waste of life. The circumstances or type of injustice may vary, but the pain and perplexity are the same.
The great apostle Paul who had the privilege of seeing untold spiritual mysteries admitted to having been “…perplexed but not in despair.” Solomon with all his wisdom could not understand why certain horrible things happened. Yet he enjoined man to fear God. Why? Because God is bigger than our pain, our questions, and our experiences. The pieces of the jigsaw puzzle of our lives may seem scattered and senseless to our limited human understanding. However, He has the final picture and is able to make every crooked way straight; barren land fertile; dead dry bones come alive, and all things beautiful in their time. His word of encouragement to us is: ”…what I do thou knowest not now; but thou shall know hereafter.” So it is worth it to walk before God in fear, for He is El-la-hairoi, the God who sees and remembers.
Prayer: Dear Lord, no one who sacrificed for you ever lost out. You are worthy of my love, my life, my all and it is a privilege to serve you.
