The four hardest words to pray and to truly mean; Thy will be done. We all think that we know what we need and when we need it. We sometimes forget to take into account that God is the only omnipotent being and only He has the perspective to know what is truly the best for us. It is vital for us that we keep this in mind in order to have an effective prayer life. We must pray according to God's will whenever we make bring our petitions to the Father

Teach Us How To Pray
Matthew 6:10 NASB
Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in Heaven
In this verse Jesus is teaching his disciples how to pray. This is part of what is known as the model prayer. We should always seek the Lord's will even if it conflicts with what we believe is best for us. Sometimes we don't understand why certain things in life happen to us. We can go deep down the rabbit hole asking God why is this situation happening to us? How could something that hurts this badly or cause me this much loss be your will? That is what having faith in the Lord is all about. I have had some very difficult seasons in my life and have been in some very dark places, but God was always there. I can see now how he used those dark times in my life to mold me into a better Christian.
Luke 22:41-42 NASB
41And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray, 42 saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
Jesus prayed this in the Garden of Gethsemane on the eve of his arrest and eventual crucifixion. He knew the horrible pain he would have to endure on our behalf. Jesus was willing to bear or burdens on the cross but beseeched his Father if there was any other way. Jesus shows us that even in this hour of extreme distress, he prayed for the Father's will to be done. This should be an example to all of us. We must pray for the Father's will to be done no matter what that may mean for us. Doing the Lord's will should be the main priority for all of us who call ourselves Christians.
