Last Minute Stocking Stuffer Idea – Homesteader Related

in #christmas7 years ago

Merry Christmas Y’all!

I just thought I would offer up a few ideas I have for last minute stocking stuffers. As I am writing this I realized that I have not had the opportunity to get anything for stocking stuffers this Christmas….. sigh. I seem to always get behind on getting these items. I don’t know why, it is not like Christmas happens at different times of the year or anything! I keep thinking I have plenty of time and then WA-BAM! It is two days before Christmas and now the mad rush begins…. So, before I head out to the local Wally-Mart, I thought I would offer up a few idea I have for stocking stuffers that would be great for the homesteader in your life or even the prepper in your life (tho’ a prepper already has about three of every little thing! ;-) ).

Here are a few items I am thinking of myself that I may be picking up.

1.  Swiss Army Knife

I have carried one of these in my pocket since I was a Boy Scout back in the early 80’s. They are very versatile and can be used on a wide variety of jobs. The one I currently have is a “Craftsman” model. I use it at work while fixing computers, around the house and homestead for all types of projects. These are one of the best knives to have with you in a pinch and as an added bonus you can feel like McGyver!! Sometime, I can almost hear the McGyver theme being played when I break out the knife.  You really cannot go wrong with one of these!

2. Pocket Flashlight:

I have just recently been carrying a small tactical style flashlight as part of my EDC (Every Day Carry). There are so many to choose from and the pricing varies from only about $10 bucks to well over $200. So, shop within your price range and the features you prefer. I picked one up at Academy Sports about a month ago. I prefer one that uses the AAA batteries and that not too thick. The lighter the better in my opinion. The ones with the aluminum frames I tend to like as they are light weight and you can use them as a defensive weapon if needed.

 3. Hot Hands

These items are very inexpensive and are a great thing to keep in your car, go bag, at home, a hunting cabin or where ever you may be. These are great items to have during hunting season to keep your hands all toasty and warm. Granted if you live in the warmer climates then you will not need them and most likely cannot find them in your area. A pack of two run about 75 cents. They typically will last all day so one pack of two should be fine going out in the woods all day.

4. Beef Jerky, Nuts as Snacks:

Anytime is a good time to Beef Jerky! My son and I love to have a small bag or two around the house or in our backpacks when we are out hiking, camping or hunting. Nuts are also a great snack to have with you. My son and I do not typically take Nuts out with us as he is allergic to some of them and well too many will not sit with me well. I know my son loves to get Beef Jerky in his stocking, so this is a no brainer for us! Of course, you could also go with the candy of your choice. I think the Beef Jerky would be the healthier of the two, but that is just me!

Well, that is my short list of ideas. I will be heading out this evening to see about getting some or all of these items to Little Man’s stocking. I hope this helps some of my procrastinator friends out there! Most of all I just want to remind y’all to be safe during this Christmas season! Little Man and I wish you all the best in the upcoming new year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! God Bless!
