Stephen Hawking murió este martes 13 de marzo luego de luchar por más de cincuenta años contra la esclerosis múltiple
Mundo. Stephen Hawking nació el 8 de enero de 1942 en Oxford, lugar al que se desplazaron sus padres, Isobel Hawking y Frank Hawking, buscando una mayor seguridad para su familia, ya que Londres estaba siendo atacado por la Luftwaffe (Fuerza Aérea de la Alemania nazi).
Inspirado en su profesor de matemáticas, Hawking se interesó por esta materia y pensó estudiarla, pero su padre quería que estudiara en el University College de Oxford, como él lo había hecho. Al no existir un profesor de matemáticas en aquel momento, en este colegio no aceptaban estudiantes de esta disciplina por lo que Hawking se especializó en ciencias naturales y consiguió una beca. Más tarde se especializó en física.
Su tutor de física, Robert Berman, dijo en una entrevista a The New York Times Magazine.
