Forgive And Let Go

in #cityofneoxian2 years ago (edited)

We all have seeds of anger embedded deep within us, that could explode if its right ignition comes along, only that many people have learnt through, different disciplinary means to control and reduce the anger to the barest minimum most times. While some are like exposed gun powder ready to go off every time. Either way, anger is not healthy.

The Visit

Keeping in touch with family is important to David, it is a way of spreading love. One day, he went visiting his aunt staying around his vicinity, during their discussions she shared with him some unpleasant experiences that led to a quarrel she was presently having with another member of the family.

David took his time and listened to her, they later veered into other issues, thereafter he left.
He got home and contemplated on the unpleasant experience shared by his aunt and felt he needed to give some advice to help her along.

Anger

He later visited her and during their discussion, David brought up the issue again, wanting to proffer some advice. But she immediately flared up in anger, interrupting him midway in his sentence, enquiring if it was his concern, David tried making her understand that harmony in the family favors everyone, but she was adamant. He sensed she was in no mood for further discussions, he left feeling bad.

Getting home, David was so angry at the way he was treated, he fell into a foul mood which he carried through out the rest of the day, tried as he could, he couldn't shake it off.

Realization

Realization came later as he was to go to bed, that most part of his day had been spent angry and bitter. And if something does not change fast, he could become a mental wreck.

It dawned too on him, that his aunt had some deep seated emotional feeling about the issue and he needed to let her sort it out, as she so chooses, in a way and at a time convenient for her.

Forgive And Let Go

The clear solution it seems for him, was to forgive her, forgive himself and let go, and that choice immediately brought some feeling of relief to David. He there and then decided to visit his aunt, first thing the next day.

Very early the next morning he was at her place in a very happy mood and warmly greeted her, she was surprised by his attitude but didn't say much. He though on the other hand felt good with himself. He spent some time with her, trying to make her as comfortable as he could.

David later left feeling relieved and he did have a great day thereafter.

Please share your thoughts, on what it is like, forgiving others, forgiving yourself and letting go. Thanks.

Forgiving yourself and understanding who you really are, is right up there among the more difficult things in life to deal with.

Once you're able to do so, it's like the weight of the world gets lifted off your shoulders and you can experience true freedom.

Once you've accomplished that, you're free from your past and can live life in the moment.

What I learned is that it is never good to stay angry. I read before that if you are in a foul mood, you have a high chance of meeting people with foul moods too. You attract what you feel, something like that.

True, foul moods just makes everything go wrong, thanks, I appreciate your presence.

Looking around and remembering myself five years ago, it's very difficult. It's easy to say it out loud or to say it to yourself, but to do it sincerely is very difficult. But it's worth it to learn).

Thanks @stdd, It can certainly be difficult a times. Looking at the pros and the cons, helps give clarity.

I'm afraid, people don't find the upside of it, so they do what they're doing now...)

You are quite right, I appreciate your contribution, thanks.

It's stressful and tiring to be angry all the time, to have all those resentment and carrying all those baggage. It's not healthy. Why waste your time doing that while you can spend your time being happy and free from those negative emotions?

@leeart you spoke my mind, it is stressful and tiring being resentful, thanks so very much.

I think we have been in that kind of state, like the world is against us. If we can't find peace of mind, then we will always be miserable.

Yay! 🤗

Beautifully said ! 🌲🙏

Anger and hate etc. eats away the person holding those emotions. It is like carrying a heavy burden all the time. It festers and worsens.
I once wrote a poem about letting go - it truly is healing to forgive and move on. No one says one need to forget though.

Thanks so much for your comment, I entirely agree with you.
