The modern building of the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater was built in 1887 by the architects Felner and Helmer in the style of the new Viennese baroque. The interior of the auditorium is stylized as the architecture of the late French Rococo. The unique acoustics of the auditorium allows us to deliver even a whisper from the stage to any corner of the hall. The complete restoration of the theater building was completed in 2007.
The theater was conducted by PI Tchaikovsky, NA Rimsky-Korsakov, SV Rakhmaninov, sang Fyodor Shalyapin, Salome Krushelnytska, Leonid Sobinov, Anna Pavlova and Isadora Duncan danced. Alexander Pushkin mentions the Odessa theater in the novel "Eugene Onegin". The magazine "Forbes" included the Odessa theater in the list of the most unusual sights of Eastern Europe

This is one of my favourite buildings in the whole world. I didn't know it was renovated in 2007. That's awesome. I have such fond memories of visiting the theatre during my year in Odessa.
