Sneaky recording before the wedding

Last Saturday I attended a wedding where I played the organ and accompanied a small choir. My group, SWELL VOX, was also involved and we managed to sneak in an impromptu recording of the Saint-Saëns Ave Maria in this gorgeous church—the acoustics here are amazing!

If you look closely at the organ, you'll see one draw knob only pulled out half way. This is for the 16' digital pedal stop and pulling it half way cuts the volume in half. Of course this would not be possible with a real set of pipes but the full sound was simply overbearing on the singers. The organ does have a real set of 16' Bourdon pipes (30 notes) and will be installed within the next 6 months. I do hope it balances well with the rest of the ranks. Once it is in, I will be sure to make a recording and perhaps another recital.
