我以前作了一首诗，讲一般人学佛学道去妄想…“秋风落叶乱为堆，扫尽还来千百回。一笑罢休闲处坐，任他着地自成灰。”妄想就好像秋风落叶一样，扫了一次，又来一次…不去扫它。落叶掉下来，自然会变成灰…除妄念那个心，也是妄念。妄念本来是空的，本来就是虚妄的，所以才叫妄念——南怀瑾《习禅录影》
人的“意识”是前五识的总管。如果说色识﹑声识﹑香识﹑味识﹑触识只是对色声香味触加以分别，那么“意识”就是对色声香味触的喜好加以判断和裁定。所以一切妄念产生于“意识”。因此说，人对物质享受的追求是贪欲之心，是妄念。
妄念本来就是空的，如果你一心想去除妄念，这也是一种妄念，所以人生在世不必过分纠结有颜色的一些事物，真正的空了才是去除妄念的最高境界
