This is the thing: when you live in a foreign city from your hometown, you are most likely feel as though your mission is to explore local, making new friends and travel. At least, this was the case for @myday and myself when we lived in Melbourne.

Compare to Sydney, We love the fact that Melbourne is just so livable - We’re talking about the traffic on the road and the friendly people on the streets (This is almost non-existed in Sydney). It’s probably because of the fact that Melbourne lacks the blessing with the harbor, the bridge etc, everything is again more down-to-earth. This is the same as to the Great Ocean Road - the most scenic and mythical road that took us home, where hearts belong.

The panoramic views of the windy road meandered along the ancient cliff tops, from the breathtaking headlands to the shorelines of beaches, across river estuaries and through exuberant rainforests. We’ve embarked on 8 hours( x 2 for return) road trip from Melbourne CBD along the Great Ocean Road.

Apollo Bay

I have a secret fascination with the inlet joining the ocean. The secluded body of body of water calms my old soul and is a true reflection of my outlook on life.

Loch Ard Gorge

Don't you like the HDR effect of the Lock Ard Gorge?

London Bridge

It all started with a big rock with two holes in the middle. At around 1990, the hole on the left collapsed at the drop of a hat, two survivors were rescuedd by the helicopter on this fateful day. It mirrors the song " London Bridgee is falling down, falling down, falling down.

Loch Ard Gorge is named after a ship that ran aground here in 1878. There were only two survivors: teenagers Tom Pearce and Eva Carmichael. Our guide reveals there are rumors that these two had an affair while waiting to be rescued, but this seems far-fetched when you consider that Eva’s family members just died in the wreck (there were 54 passengers on board in total). But I appreciate the dramatic imagination behind this theory.

Loch Ard Gorge
London's bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down."

Twelve Apostles

We finally arrived at the Twelve Apostles right before the dusk. The light was fading and fortunately, we remembered to bring our camera. The general tourists pretty much left straight after the sunset. From my experience, as photographers, staying the longest in the cold below 2 degrees always reap the rewards.

So this is it - The Great Ocean Road. Unlike the hustle and bustle of urban life, there's power and beauty in nature.
