Youtube Vs Dtube (Unbiased Comparison) - Are we ready to leave Youtube and enter DTube?

in #cn7 years ago (edited)

Hello, Steemians. As we all know about the new decentralized video platform Dtube. Many steemians are saying that Dtube will go ahead of Youtube soon. I also do believe that Dtube has the potential to leave Youtube behind.

But is it really ready now? Should we really come to Dtube now?

Probably you don't have an answer. So today leaving all this question aside let's do an unbiased comparison between the two.

I will choose the main topics here which we need in a video sharing platform.

[I am comparing both the platforms after using both of them]

1. The Layout:

The layout of a website matters a lot, whether it is a video sharing platform or a personal blog. If you ever owned a blog you will know people only visit a blog when its layout is simple and understandable. If the layout is good then chances of staying or revisiting in your blog or video channel will increase, and if the layout is poor, the bounce rate will increase.

Youtube:

As you can see the front layout, as well as the others, are clean and well organized. Whether you are a viewer or content creator, you will always look for a clean layout. Undoubtedly the layout of Youtube is best at this time when it comes to a video sharing platform. But we have to consider the fact that Youtube is not a new platform. It is updated and modified from a long time.

DTube:

On the other side, the layout of DTube is not that good. The site is slow as compared to Youtube (I have a 4g connection). The site takes times to load. There is no category option in DTube which is very necessary for a viewer. We know the content creator uses tags in a video so they should get an option add the video in a specific category. We will surely get some better user experience in future as DTube is newly launched.

2. Payout:

As we know most of the content creators are making videos just for the sake of money. I am not saying this is a bad thing; they are creating videos and doing hard work so they should get paid. So let's talk about the payout system in both the platforms.

Youtube:

I have to say the amount of reward(money) we get in Youtube is pathetic for small channels. Only some channels with huge subscriber get the most of it. Many talented people remain unnoticed. Monetization system in Youtube is now changed. Only the channels which have more than 10000+ views can apply for monetization. One major problem of Youtube monetization (AdSense) is it can be banned any time by youtube. But the payout is given directly in our bank, so there is no issue in receiving money.

DTube:

As we all know DTube is a decentralized platform. The payout is given in the form of steem and steem dollars. So for some people, it may be a problem who don't know much about crypto currency. But in DTube good contents easily cross 50$-500$ and sometimes even more which is nearly impossible for a new content creator unless the video becomes viral. But in DTube view doesn't give the reward. Only the upvote gives reward in Dtube and different upvote has different reward value which is a major disadvantage of the platform.

3. Uploading and Views Counter:

Youtube:

In Youtube, you can see the progress of uploading which is really a good thing. The amount of time it takes to upload a video in youtube is very fast when compared to DTube. Uploading doesn't restart from the beginning if your internet disconnects at the time of uploading instead it resumes where it stopped. And the number of views per video is shown on Youtube which is really important to see how many people watched your video.

DTube:

In DTube the uploading is very slowly maybe it is because the platform is new. The progress of uploading is not shown in DTube which is an important thing. And if your internet disconnects than you have to start all over again. In DTube you can not see the number of viewers.

4. Plagiarism:

Plagiarism is one of the major problems of the online world. Copying others good content and earning from it is never a good choice. Hence it should be stopped.

Youtube:

Youtube is very strict when it comes to plagiarism. If you ever find a copied content or violent content in Youtube just complain about it, and it will be gone. You can see the above image the video is deleted for plagiarism. This feature of Youtube should be appreciated. If we want a spam free platform, then this is a major step we should take.

DTube:

I am really disappointed about the plagiarised content available in DTube. As we know every video published in DTube can not be deleted that's why there should be a reviewing system before publishing it in the blockchain. You can see from the above image a 'Leaked Episode Of Game of Thrones' was published which is not a good thing at all and he got rewarded.

5. Language:

As we know the language used in a platform is probably the most important thing. In steemit also there are many complications about the use of language.

Youtube:

As we know Youtube is quite old and number 1 video sharing platform in the world that's why it has channelled with different languages. And we have to consider the fact that the amount of viewer in Youtube is also pretty high, so language is not a problem in Youtube.

DTube:

In Dtube the majority of the users are English speaking that's why it may be a problem for content creators with regional language. The platform is new the amount of content creator as well as the viewer is not very large. And only a registered user can vote a video that's why it's a challenging task to draw the attention of the viewers. In future, we might see some good development.

I want to clearly say that my intention was not to depreciate the new platform at all. The platform is new, and it is rocking from its beginning, so its future is very bright.

Thanks for reading.

Sort:

Dtube & Steemit, Oh Yeah...

My vote goes to Dtube ... it is the second generation of youtube with more potential of payouts for even the new users....!!!
followed you...!!!

mine too...
Followed You

Thanks for the blog I had no idea about D Tube will check it Out!

Thanks for the detail comparison article

I just tried to use Dtube, and boy is it slow. Found a video I would watch but gave up after watching the loading screen for way too long. Alternatives to Youtube are welcome but...I'm not sure that level of slowness is something most people will tolerate.

hay I was just thinking to write about this.......can I get a invite please
