Let's talk about a really cool neighborhood in San Francisco called West Portal.

West Portal is a small neighborhood that is primarily residential in nature. The neighborhood's main corridor, West Portal Avenue, serves as a principal shopping district of southwestern San Francisco.

West Portal Avenue is a two-lane, bi-directional street that stretches three blocks along West Portal Avenue from Ulloa Street to 15th Avenue and extends one block east along Ulloa Street from the Twin Peaks Tunnel entrance to Claremont Boulevard. West Portal Avenue provides a selection of goods and services for customers coming mainly from the surrounding west of Twin Peaks and Sunset District residential neighborhoods.

Commercial properties along West Portal Avenue within the subject’s immediate area include coffee shops and bakeries; chiropractic and medical offices; banks and financial institutions, hair and nail salons; pharmacies and opticians; small neighborhood grocery stores; restaurants, tutoring centers, and other specialty retail stores and boutiques.

There are a few national chain tenants along the street consist primarily of drug stores, financial institutions, and coffee shops (Walgreen’s, Rite Aid, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Citibank, Starbucks, and Peet’s Coffee).

The majority of the buildings along West Portal Avenue are single-story retail storefronts and scattered multi-story office buildings. The majority of the single-story storefronts have finished and unfinished mezzanines. Most of the buildings are of wood frame construction, many of which were built in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Most buildings exhibit average- to above-average condition. Rent levels tend to increase as one travels northeast toward the Twin Peaks Tunnel.

Access routes to West Portal Avenue include Ulloa Street to the northeast and Sloat and Junipero Serra Boulevards to the southwest. Ulloa Street runs from Waithman Way to the Great Highway. This street borders the northeast entrance to West Portal Avenue; approximately two blocks northeast of the subject. Sloat Boulevard runs from Portola Drive to the Great Highway.

Nice venues :) Over here the shopping venues are disappearing as ppl shop online.

Yeah, we are getting that over here too so it's becoming harder for the mom and pop stores.
