Today I present you pictures of the kumquat plant (Fortunella).
They belong to the rue family (Rutaceae) and are closely related to the citrus plants. The kumquat grows as an evergreen shrub or small tree. It grows slowly and gets 2.5 to 4.5 meters high. Originally from Asia, the kumquat is today cultivated in America, Africa and in the warmest regions of southern Europe. Depending on its size, the kumqat tree can carry several hundred or even several thousand fruits per year.
The kumquat is appreciated by gourmets for its fruity tart taste. Like many other fruits, the fruits of Kumquat are rich in vitamin C. In addition, a lot of calcium, potassium, magnesium and a little copper.
