Delicate Arch for ColorChallenge – Friday SkyBlue
Where red rock meets blue sky

I have taken the short hike to Delicate Arch three times. It is in Arches National Park, Utah. It is one of those places you are inclined to skip because of popularity. But once you get there and take those last few steps that reveal Delicate Arch, standing majestically in that great sweeping bowl, you understand how words fall short of describing it.
Delicate Arch is a stunning monument to nature’s processes. There is something surreal about it, almost too perfect, standing alone when everything around it has been swept away.
If you are there during a sunny day (and there are many), you will witness the intense red rocks, deep green pines, and that enormous desert blue sky. It is nature at its boldest. The surreal quality already there gave me the idea to add imaginary globes to the sky.

This is once again a very simply drawn vector image. See my keyline view on the left. All colors are flat except the globes and mountains, where I used gradients to soften them. I like working with limited color palettes, and this image is a natural for that.
Nice!
