...but don't merge together
When I was in Geneva with @moreaboutmarina, she fortunately heard about this natural spectacle by pure coincidence. On the last evening before our departure back to Austria we decided to look for this place. After getting lost for three times, we arrived at the right vantage point. It was so worth it. At this location the river Rhone and the Arve (do not) merge together. This is due to a small wall in the middle under the water surface, which you can see if you look closely. Although the water still runs over it, it does not mix properly. The different colours are due to the fact that the rivers come from completely different regions and carry different sediments with them.
It looks quite nice on a picture, but it is really fascinating only in a video. That's why I added a GIF for you below. Filming was not so easy because of the existing fence. Does that fascinate you as much as me?
...aber nicht vermischen
Als ich gemeinsam mit @moreaboutmarina in Genf war, hat sie zum Glück durch Zufall von diesem Naturschauspiel erfahren. Am letzten Abend vor unserer Abreise sind wir dann, nach dreimaligen verirren, zum passenden Aussichtspunkt gekommen. Es war es einfach nur wert. Hier fließen der Fluss Rhone und die Arve (nicht) zusammen. Schuld daran ist eine kleine Mauer in der Mitte, welche man sehen kann wenn man genau hinsieht. Zwar läuft das Wasser trotzdem darüber, trotzdem vermischt es sich nicht richtig. Die verschiedenen Farben liegen an der Tatsache, dass die Flüsse aus komplett verschiedenen Regionen kommen und verschiedene Sedimente mitschleppen.
Zwar sieht es schon auf einen Bild recht hübsch aus, aber richtig faszinierend ist es erst in Bewegbildform. Deswegen habe ich drunter noch ein GIF für euch eingefügt, was gar nicht so leicht war wegen des vorhanden Zauns. Findet ihr das auch so faszinierend wie ich?

Das hat sich definitiv gelohnt. So etwas habe ich bisher noch nicht gesehen. Es ist schon krass, wie unterschiedlich die Färbung der beiden Flüsse ist.
