A few weeks back I posted an image of some of my growing apartment decor... which consists largely of a combination of items found either at IKEA or a comic shop... and here’s the sequel.

I’ve had some family visiting recently, and while it reduced my “Steeming” it’s been a great few days. During a little antiquing expedition I was fortunate to find a piece I’ve been wanting for a while, a vintage comic display rack!

I promptly loaded it with some of the most nostalgic issues from my youth and made it a proud accent piece in my living room. #geekpride

Great way to showcase your collection! I would love to have a spinner rack.

That’s still on my list too. If I ever find a couple I’ll alert you!

Impressive! I think one of the things I enjoyed most about my childhood is when my older brother read me his comics. <3

OMG! This looks amazing! You should be proud. My geek decor mainly involves my Tolkien collection and Pops.

I’m just starting to get a handful of Pops to scatter around here & there. What’s your Tolkien collection? Weapon replicas?

Na. Just a lot of books. Bought the new The Tale of Beren and Lúthien and now I'm waiting for the Fall of Gondolin to come out, have a few obscure books like the first and second volume of history of middle Earth. On top of the usual Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and Silmarillion.

Boom! That is so geek sheek! Love it!

Oh man, that brings back memories!

this looks amazing! You should organize a comic book reading club here on steemit! Like what comicbook girl 19 does on youtube

Hmm... I’ll check that out, curious how it’s structured. I think I’d love it but I fear it’d be one more project to neglect!

That's why I haven't taken it on myself haha

That's awesome man. That "What if" Wolverine thooooo

Ha! Wolverine battling Conan was like, the highlight of a 10 year old’s month!

Awesome!! What did the rack set ya back?

$125. A lot better than I’ve seen online recently! Glad I prowled the antique market. I’ll be keeping my eyes out for more, possibly a spinner rack still in my future...

That actually seems like quite the steal, even for me. Any idea what year/decade it's likely to be from?

I never even thought to use these in private decorating. Sadly I’ve come across a couple similar ones throughout the years that I’ve tossed as I couldn’t use them in my shop. I’ll know from now on that there are uses for things like this. I’m an idiot is what I’m trying to say. Lol

I love these things as a display piece! You could definitely get money for any you come across. I see them on eBay for 2-3 times what I paid, so I’m glad I found it more locally.

Good question, I’ll need to do a bit more research but I’d say 80’s or late 70’s manufacturing. This design was the ubiquitous one I remember at newsstands, in convenience stores, etc. back in the late 80’s & early 90’s when comics could be purchased all over.

Freakin' love it -- literally felt warm inside. : ))) Resteemed !

I only wish my wife would allow the same. Roughly half of my collection is set up like this... in a sad corner:

One of the pros of being single... cons are obvious of course! You have some top quality pieces too! We gotta get you a serious man-cave library someday.

Wow you were lost for a good time, welcome ;)

You do not have children? I have a small one that if I get to place that as an ornament in my living room I bet you that all the magazines would become only papel picado :(

No, no children to worry about! Just a couple cats that get into mischief occasionally but are surprisingly well behaved!
