It was seven months ago since I wrote about Blood Hunters #1. Well, I finally came around to reading their second issue. The team is still as dysfunctional as ever! Time hasn't had enough chance to heal their old wounds. And the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man is still hanging around trying to help Dagger, Elsa Bloodstone, White Widow and Hallows' Eve in their quest to rid the world of vampires. To make things complicated, Morales has been bitten and nobody seems to want the help from his sorry ass. Their only known solution was to use the one hero that could bring him back from the undead, but this procedure didn't work.
If these heroes are ever going to become a cohesive team, Erica Schultz (Marvel's selected bloodthirsty writer) isn't giving us an idea as to when this might happen. Robert Gill and Rain Beredo return to accent these crimson pages with sharp graphics. The cover artwork (pictured above) by Ema Lupacchino and Guru-eFX is as crisp as any that I have ever seen. Kudos to Marvel for having the ability to constantly create new heroes and villains and finding new teams for familiar faces!
Elsa Bloodstone is being a real pain for the other Blood Hunters to handle. Spider-Man keeps interjecting himself into situations where he isn't wanted. Bloodstorm One is monitoring the situation, while Smoke Eater is tracking the vampire hunters. While Elsa Bloodstone is immune to vampire bites, they can still feed on her blood. It is unusual that a buffet can be presented with no consequence for the host. A very different comic with a heroic team? Yes. Villains that are already dead? Yes. A bloody good comic? Absolutely!
