RE: [ANN] Introducing Dustsweeper. A new service to turn Dust into Profit.

in #community6 years ago

I'm trying to understand the mathematics of this. I send you 1 SBD. You upvote 71 of my posts for a total of .014 SBD each. That's .994 SBD return. And if I understand this correctly, I only get 75% of that as an author, so it's only .7455 SBD, or 50/50 SBD/STEEM split. What am I missing?

Hello Blockurator, the 0.014SBD is your actual cost but the upvote value from the bot is roughly $0.028.

Out of the $0.028, you keep 75%, or 0.021.
50% in SBD = 0.0105 SBD
50% in STEEM we take 0.0105 and divide it by 1.68(current STEEM price) = 0.006 STEEM
0.006 STEEM is worth around 0.0075 SBD
So 0.0105 + 0.0075 = 0.018 SBD

So at this moment, you are actually getting more in return. When we first released Dusty it was basically +/- 0, but due to the price drop it has changed slightly. The return from Dusty was always meant to come from the saved dust, the vote itself shouldn't be profitable.

I hope that helps.
