A recent HIVE contest by @phoenixwren evoked much thought in me about community building; with particular emphasis of HIVE. By sharing those thoughts its my hope that it may help to foster community building on the HIVE network.

The down and upvoting system of HIVE certainly has its pros and cons. It is one area that could do with some reworking in my opinion.

Contests like @phoenixwren's work to encourage members to share and interact thus helping to build community. The platform itself offers all the tools required to reach that objective.
