There was an artist doing that burnt hole in paper thing I saw at a gallery 20 years or more ago. They had flat multiple layers of paper slightly spaced apart. 30x40 inches or so. Framed and hanging up in the gallery. They were amazing.
I just went and googled "Burnt holes in paper artists" Yikes! It's so beautiful all the stuff I'm seeing... I was trying to paint marks like these. And that other thing that happens - seeing things I'm doing that others have already done. And they have beautiful websites and... whew.
I had seen one youtube video of a collage artist burning the holes, just to use as random collage paper. Before that, I had not seen anything with burned hole papers that I remember. I think they were using one of those electric things that people use for wood burning art, so it was very hot, but there was no flame. I feel like I will have to try it sooner or later. I am wondering how much smoke it puts off if any.
I will have to google it and see if I can see the art you are talking a out. I really love the way it looks, even just laying there like in the photo above.
Many or maybe all artists at one time or the other, do things that are inspired by other artists. That is the way of it I think as we learn and grow. Always fun to try new things just to see what comes out. For real though, is there anything that someone else somewhere has not tried?
Thanks for stopping in. Now I have something else fun to go look for.
