Excellent discussion topic
My first computer experience was back in the 80's I was given an old XT computer,DOS - remember the flashing curser on black screen :) it had a massive 64 MB of Ram and 5.5 inch floppy disks, I was told at the time that there is no way I could break it, so I pushed the limits of hardware capacity and software development, I crashed the thing numerous times and rebuilt it quite a few, I learnt Database development on it and of all things early digital graphic design - Pre Photoshop
I have included this post in the Hive helping highlight for today to encourage further engagement

I also learned database development on DOS in my teens, even got a few pounds for helping a store create an inventory system, and created a health visitor logging database for our health promotion department. I used Dbase and DataEase :)
Incredibly DataEase still exists!!
Yes I used Dbase to create a community database for the LETS (Local Employment Trading system) back in the early 90's :) The database got used worldwide which was a bonus
worked on it with the founder of LETS from Canada and another developer from England, pre Internet really, all communication done via a Bulletin Board, took weeks to get a reply sometimes lol
