My Thoughts on the Whole Dlive Exit, You Shape the Future of Steemit

Steemit is the Real World

As much as Steemit sounded like the perfect platform for me when I first started blogging here, the fact is that it isn't. The structure and terrain of Steemit consist of you and I. We are the ones that will shape Steemit to where it is going now and the future it will hold for us. We sometimes think that our little post would not give much impact but as you start to dig deep and get your hands in the mud together with many other Steemians in the communities and initiatives that Steemit has provided this platform for, YOU, MY FRIEND is shaping the future of Steemit.

Because the future Steemit is dependant on its users, we get 'the good, the bad and the ugly' from all four corners of the world in together. You get spammers, hackers, business minded people, amazing content creators and many more. And to think that you've seen all. You can never seem to trust much but only from what you've seen from the data available to you (the blockchain transparency). But even then, the whole 'decentralized' concept has its pros and cons. Today, I believe not only me but many Steemians on this platform were struck with disappointment at the news of #dlive pulling out from the Steem Blockchain.

My Thoughts

Though I'm not well invested with @dlive in terms of time or content, I feel cheated. All the more so for the Steemians who are daily creating amazing content on this live streaming platform. I started using @dlive when I hosted the first #teammalaysia talkshow, Teh Tarik Sundays. I wanted to live stream the talk show for everyone on Steemit to watch and @dlive did a wonderful job at providing that service for me. Their team was always quick to answer questions and feedback during my time I've spent using this service. I remember clearly when @dlive had just started and have received a 2 million delegation from @ned himself. I'm sure @ned has also, like you and I, see the potential that @dlive can bring to the table for the Steem Blockchain.

However, when I woke up today and was DMed the post that @dlive is actually COMPLETELY leaving Steem for another blockchain. I had questions in my head. Was this planned all along? Why haven't we heard of it announced AT ALL before? What will happen to the remaining SPs in their account? A lot of questions ran through my mind as I continued to read the comments of the post and yes, they are COMPLETELY removing themselves from Steemit.

Which is weird, because for all the invested Steemians who have been using your service for day one, I would at least leave the remaining SP which is 70k to at least think of a way to contribute back to the Steem blockchain. Afterall, Steem was what helped you get on your feet and put you on the map of Dapps. Like they say, if there is a will, there is a way that ALL this could have gone better but it is obvious they don't want any part of Steem anymore so they're powering down completely. For me, I would've started a curation initiative to continue to upvote content creators who upload videos on the platform but hey!~ I'm no dlive with 70k SP.

I guess this itself speaks volume on the people that run this service and though I've heard both sides from people who are against this and is for this. I would like to say that @dlive could've done a better job at addressing this issue. The worst part is that it feels so much like an 'exit scam' when it was announced just days before the pullout. People do come over and tell me, well that is business for you, it's all about the money. Yes, but not ALL businessmen are like that. I will stick to my very core principles of how I would run a business.

Righteousness always wins

As simple as that. I've been in the business world before and have failed, unfortunately, but one thing that I took from that endeavor which I will not repeat or do is to be manipulative and deceitful. I've learned that at the end of the day, trust me, righteousness ALWAYS WINS. I've seen this happen countless times.

Moving Forward

I guess my heart goes out to the content creators and investors who actually saw something in this service. Not so much of myself because I've only used their service a few times. It is also unfortunate for @dlive because Steem will be going in hardfork 20 on the 25th September and we can see the patches coming through anytime soon! This will be massive! With SMTs released dates announced, the hive and many more upgrade to Steem Blockchain, I can assure you that Steem is here to stay.

Steem has indeed provided such an amazing platform for common people like you and I to actually start our own initiatives/communities and ACTUALLY get REAL WORLD STUFF done here. This is one of the greatest aspects of this blockchain. And to think that you have @ned and the team delegating SP for your startup? How easy can this get? You have a wonderful community, and venture capital (delegated SPs). You basically have it here.

With that being said, I still have to think of other alternatives to livestreaming my Teh Tarik Sundays talkshow. I was thinking of @dtube or @vimm. Which one will you suggest? I'm looking for one with integrity, especially with the people's heart in mind. You know... for after what has happened... ; )

Anyways I'll see about the new services I'll be using. There are tons I would love to share on my thoughts but I guess there's no point sulking over spilled milk. So with that, I would like to thank you guys for choosing to stay on Steem Blockchain, it is VERY important because, you shape the future of Steemit.

Thank You

It appears that they have been planning this for a long time. While I agree that they should put the steem back into the platform instead of taking it out, they do raise some valid points about issues with the steem blockchain. Hopefully those will be addressed soon. That said, blockchain competition is actually good. Steem is very unique, but its issues with respect lack of support for evergreen content, and incentives that are rarely aligned with content quality, means that another could come along and do better--or force steem to correct issues faster. So while DLive's exploitation of steem delegation is really bad, I think we should all welcome the blockchain competition.

Yea, definitely a healthy competition is good for any thriving community/initiatives. Only will try to be better. Anyways, did u read the latest post by Dlive where the CEO was addressing all the misconceptions and all?

I hadn't heard of @Dlive leaving until today. This past week has been an "out of touch" week for me, I guess, with connectivity issues and getting busy. I'm not a DLive user, but this does make me sad. To me, it signifies a real underlying issue with the Steem blockchain itself. If one of the premier DApps of a blockchain decides to go elsewhere, that should be a very clear signal that something is wrong. And while I like the blockchain, it isn't perfect. It's okay to note that. I am beginning to wonder if the Steem blockchain has staying power. DLive moving is not a good sign.

I was wicked bummed out to hear they were leaving, but didn't really know much of the back story. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts - while it's disheartening to see people behave this way, seeing the reactions of people like yourself just reaffirm that the Steemit community is amazeballs, and will continue to be so!

I will always look towards where there is hope instead of the empty spaces of negativity. :) Let's do this together @traciyork.

Well said! Moving forward is always the answer!

i suggest for dtube, Will dlive really be separate from steemit?

Yes, they're moving to a new blockchain called LINO
