Krippy the Crab

Krippy was an odd little crab. He was small and squishy and he did not know why he was always like this.

Since he was little, Krippy was always bullied and I dare say, nearly eaten, by the other crabs! In crab school every crap learned all there was to know about being a good crab.

The crabs learned how to swim through the water. The Swimmer Crabs were the best at this of course. But Krippy was no good at swimming.

The crabs learned to fight with their claws. The Fiddler Crabs were the best at this. But Krippy had very tiny claws and he was not good at fighting.

The crabs learned how to collect food. The Brown Crabs were great at doing this and often even worked together. But Krippy was not good at this either.

One day a big, giant, humongous bass fish came to the reef where the crab school was. All the crabs were in a panic and scuttled here and there.

The bass could swim faster than the Swimmer Crabs.

The bass could fight better than the Fiddler Crabs.

The bass could feed better than the Brown Crabs and that is exactly what he was going to do!

The bass saw that there was one crab that was not very fast, nor did it look like it could fight, nor did it have a lot of friends.

That's right kids. He was looking at Krippy!

The bass swam right for Krippy and the little crab was very scared.

Quickly, Krippy did the only thing that he could think of doing. He hid inside a seashell! No other crab would have been able to fit inside.

The bass fish picked up the shell with its mouth and tried to eat it, but it was too hard so the bass dropped the shell.

The bass circled for a little while and then left the reef. Krippy was saved!

From that day forward Krippy was happy. He was not a good swimmer, nor was he a good fighter, nor did he have lots of friends. In fact he rather enjoyed being on his own.

That's right kids. Krippy was a Hermit Crab. He learned to carry his shell on his back all the time.

Remember, just because you can't do something as good or as fast as other children does not mean that you too, might not also have some kind of special skill just like Krippy the Crab.

The End
