Build Log: Motherboard and CPU, and the rest!

This is a bit of a delayed post. But, as you can see from the picture above, the last two pieces of the puzzle recently arrived.

On Thursday last week, I put together the built, with the help of a friend who dropped by to help by holding cables and plugging in those pesky front panel connectors.

The machine is now complete, up and running, and there's still a few tweaks that I will need to complete before it is completely... finished.

The fan curves that the motherboard ships with are very, very conservative, and as a result, there's a bit of annoying ramping occuring when engaged in particular tasks.

Overall, the machine is pretty quiet, which is welcome - and with some graphics card overclocking (to try and prevent the GPU to be a bottleneck) - and its custom over-clocking curve, there's a much quieter machine all round, which is an unexpected boon from the upgrade.

That, and it also looks nicer with the RGB touches from the RAM and the Motherboard.

For the people who have not followed the rest of the build posts that I've made...

The circle there is to remind me to reboot into BIOS and apply the correct memory profile, which I'm off to do now, before I sit down and play some games!

I've already done some photo editing on the machine, and the extra CPU power is amazing, especially when doing batch processes.

Nice man congrats on the new rig and glad it sounds like you're happy with the new build. Nothing like doing some photo editing to realize what a nice machine you now have when it doesn't crash all the time or take forever.

The reaponsiveness in things like liquify is better now that my CPU isn't bottle necking the GPU anymore!

I miss building gaming pcs

Its a fun exercise to do, but it certainly is not cheap. Its a once every four years thing, according to my budget.

Haha yeah I could say the same hey😂😂.. Hey dude... Merry Christmas though 🎄🎄

CPU...Isn't that the gold robot out of Star Wars?

C3PO is not in my computer :p

Haha...It was a dumb joke...But that's what I'm known for...
