Yes, I also get to this place @abitcoinskeptic ...

"... and dedicate a couple hours a month to backups or maintenance."

... and start out okay. But ... Over time, with all the best intentions, I can easily fall behind. With other priorities "crowding out" this one ...

Sounds interesting to install Linux on your old system. Do you have experience with that OS? Or are you challenging yourself to ramp up to it as a learning opportunity?

I fall behind, too. Regret if something dies suddenly.

I have been using linux off and on since early 2000s. I've settled on mint since Elyssa in 2008 and remember nerding out in 2012 when Maya was released (I skipped win7). I started off with cinnamon but have settled on Mate since then as it has lower hardware requirements, but otherwise feels the similar. I currently have Tessa installed on my netbook and I'll see if I can get that on the older desktop first then just wait for the January edition to upgrade to the latest. I'm thinking of putting that computer next to my TV and using it as a giant firestick.

Okay, very good @abitcoinskeptic. I don't "speak Linux," so most of these references are over my head.

Doesn't sound like you'll be bored any time in the near future. And with your gardening season coming to an end, good timing! 😉👍
