Working on a new Steem Machine

in #computers8 years ago (edited)

I am planning to build a new computer. So far, my parts wish list is as follows:

  • AMD Ryzen R7 1700X 3.4GHz 8-core processor
  • ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero motherboard
  • G.Skill Trident Z 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 RAM
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G3 power supply
  • ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card

I am still trying to choose a case, and I am weighing whether to go full-SSD or use an old-school HDD. I just know I want to run games at maximum graphics settings for a while instead of having to tweak settings to get performance!

This would for sure be a great stuff to invent...i would prefer you to go full SSD, the HDD isn't as good as it.

for which game you need such enormous capacity computer? :D

I have a lot of games that my current machine simply will not run at all, so I thought I should just jump in and get a system that will last a long time. High-end now is still mid-grade in several years. Plus, I may splurge on my own copy of Solidworks. That needs some serious power to run at full capacity.

Sounds like it is going to be an awesome machine.

Go full SDD, I have 120GB SDD and 1TB HDD. Needless to say, HDD is like a steam engine, and SDD is like a nuclear power plant. Also there is way less noise with SDD.

yeah, and if I have a smaller OS SSD and a larger storage SSD or two for games, music, etc. I will be set for a long time. I may plug in my old 2TB storage HDD as a temporary measure anyway.

I'm in agreement with @moon32walker, go full SDD. It's far, far better than running with an HDD. The prices for high end/large capacity SDD's isn't too bad either. The rest of your set up sounds great though, hopefully someday in the next year or two I can upgrade my rig since it's getting pretty old now, lol.

Build that monster and it will play on it's own!

@jacobtothe ! You should go for Full SSD instead of HDD for high motion graphics .. By the way you are making a beast computer ..#love it

Case selection is so hard these days even more so if you have some money to spend on one. I went with Fractal Design a few years back. In part because I use to watch jayztwocents over on YouTube and the funny skits he did for making commercials for them where great. The price point was also very nice.

I liked the looks and it was cheap. Definitely won’t be doing much water cooling in my rig but I never intended this build to be.

I hope you find some amazing bling to round out that great build. Happy gaming!
