Where I live, it's common for politicians to bribe old people and the gypsies prior to an election, because their standards of living are very low, therefore it doesn't take much to turn them one way or another. For this reason, only the big, corporate-friendly parties get to ever win elections, since the smaller, grass-root parties just don't have the funding to compete.
