On October 19th, I had the most amazing time at an intimate Vatra concert, and it was everything I could have hoped for. Limited to just over 100 people, these smaller, intimate concerts have a way of creating such a special atmosphere. There’s always something magical about being in a room where everyone feels connected, not just through the music but through the shared love and joy.
Vatra is a Croatian rock band formed in 1999. They are known for their melodic rock sound and thoughtful lyrics, and have become one of the most popular bands in Croatia. Their music often explores themes of love, personal struggles, and emotional depth, which has resonated with many fans. This year marks Vatra’s 25th birthday as a band, and what an incredible journey it has been for them :)!! Their big celebration took place on May 25th at Šalata, but this concert had another layer of significance - it was also frontman Ivan’s birthday! Seeing them celebrate both milestones in such an intimate setting felt deeply personal, they really treated us like their family.
I’ve been following Vatra since 2015/16-ish, around the time their hit song Tango took the music scene by storm. Over the years, they’ve become so much more to me than just a band I listen to. _The five members—Ivan, Mihael, Mario, Mario-Robert, and Robert _(yes, one member has two names similar to other members, so if you know him, you basically know half the band🤣!) - are some of the most genuine, down-to-earth people I’ve ever met. They’ve never treated me like a fan but like a best friend, and I’m still in awe of how friendly and kind-hearted they are.
I even had the incredible opportunity to work with them last year on the music video shoot for their song Meni Treba Tako Malo
Their determination and professionalism is incredible on every level. It still feels surreal that we’ve become good friends, and every time I see them, they always make me feel like I’m part of their journey. Getting invited to all their events, to celebrate their music etc., is such an honor, getting to support them through thick and thin.
As for the concert itself - it was pure magic. From the first note to the last, the energy was electrifying (although it was an acoustic concert 🤣), yet somehow, the warmth of the evening made it feel like home. I nearly cried during their final song, overwhelmed by the beauty of the moment.
It’s rare to see a band so genuinely connected to their audience, and Vatra has mastered that art❤️.
I’ll be sharing some videos and pictures from their past concerts as well, so you can get a sense of just how special they are.
Here’s to 25 incredible years of Vatra, and many more unforgettable moments to come!
Please check out these videos from the concerts🤗🫶🏻;
[I managed to catch Ivan before their performance to wish him a happy birthday:)]
