One interesting thing about this to me, is that Skelton's embrace of Democracy is a great example of Conservatives abandoning their old ideas as they become unpopular. We are seeing this now in the US as Conservatives abandon their opposition to gay marriage. It seems that sometimes the realities of the world demand that Conservatives contradict the name of their ideology.
