In South Africa, the 4th of July has no importance. We celebrate Freedom Day on 27 April as the day of the first democratic elections in our country. This started in 1994.

However, the 4th of July is my parent's anniversary, a day for which I am very grateful...

here in venezuela is only celebrated on July 4 as the day of the architect

I live in Germany. So I don't care lol

I am not sure if I am late to the party for participating in this contest. Yet I will like to add my comment.

So, I am from India and to us 15th August is "that" important day which is July 4 to USA citizens. This day marks the end of British rule in India; a day when we became a free and independent country after years of struggle and sacrifices.
If you look for one emotion that every Indian citizen feels for this day, then that would be PRIDE. We feel proud in not having given up and continuing to fight for our rights in order to attain "PURNA SWARAJ" meaning "Complete Independence".

Each year the Prime Minister of the country hoists the national flag at Red Fort, Delhi (the national capital) and addresses the nation. He talks about we were able to achieve in that particular year and what better we look forward to in the coming one. Then 21 gun shots are fired in the honor of the occasion.

All schools and colleges host lots of parades and dramas and shows to remember the great men who sacrificed their lives to bring the country to its current shape.

And yes the day is observed as national holiday.

Generally in Venezuela we celebrate is July 5 (day of independence) and previously it was a holiday (not work) in which families used to go to the beach, walk, make meals to celebrate, be together had one another parade by the army and were broadcast on TV ... in the current situation of our country this celebration has become one more day, with the only difference that it is not workable, it is impossible to plan a small family outing for to be distracted by the high prices and the few things that can be done thanks to insecurity, people have lost their courage to almost all things ... We can only remember what the holidays were like and hope that everything changes ... .

Great info didn't know about July for Venezuela. Thanks for sharing.

It is very strong for us Venezuelans this situation that is currently happening in Venezuela we celebrate is July 5 (day of independence the Venezuela. (not work) in which families used to go to the beach, walk, make meals to celebrate, be together had one another parade by the army and were broadcast on TV ... in the current situation of our country this celebration has become one more day, with the only difference that it is not workable, it is impossible to plan a small family outing for to be distracted by the high prices and the few things that can be done thanks to insecurity, people have lost their courage to almost all things, But nevertheless we have hope that all that is happening is my country change. !!

I am from India but have heard of 4th of July and wish you.
As for us, we have a bunch of cultural holidays, religious festivals and yes, our Independence day is celebrated on 15th of August and we have to thank Mahatma Gandhi for it. Had he not unified the country, Independence would still be a dream for a country like ours with so many different languages, princely states and cultures.

whatever festival it is, food is the main attraction and preparing sweets is a task that is enjoyed by all. friends and relatives visit each other and gift sweets
thank you

Hello friend @bunnypuncher. I am from Venezuela and here is celebrated on July 5 The Day of Indepenence. Although in these times there is no reason to celebrate, since every day the country lives an extreme situation of hunger and poverty. But despite the vicissitudes we always remember our national dates with pride.

In France we celebrate the 14th July which is a commemoration of the "prise de la Bastille" in 1789. At that time the kings and high profile persons were beheaded with the famous "Guillotine" when they were captured by the population.
In Germany were I am now, it is 3rd of October which marks the reunification of western and eastern Germany in 1989 after the wall was broken. It als marked the end of the cold war between the western countries and the sovietic countries.
Another country I also was working in is Switzerland which celebrate 1st August which marks the celebration of the country´s foundation.
In general I used those day either to work since I was working in shifts in my former company and had to work on Bank Holidays as well or if the weather was fine make a little bicycle tour provided I was not to exhausted from work.

In my country it is not celebrated on July 4th, our day is July 5th, which is the signing of the Act of Independence, it is celebrated with military parades and a great exhibition of everything that the army has in its arsenal, accompanied by acts performed by the aviation corps.
I don't go to the parades, even though they are very colourful, because I don't agree with the fact that in my country there is such an exaggerated investment in arms and that there are whole families eating garbage and sleeping on the streets.
To celebrate, I go to the beach or the park to play football.

in venezuela is a normal day on July 4 we usually do nothing but if we congratulate our American acquaintances and sometimes we go to their celebratory dinners or relatives, since really the 5th of july is the day of Independence is celebrated here, It is a holiday (not working), before the economic crisis that affects our family and I went to the beach, to parks or family gatherings, we took advantage of family time to catch up on everyone and so share with friends and neighbors, since we have a family philosophy that says even if you have little shares and you will always have for you too

Heaven has many places, one of which is in the heart ..
If the heart is guarded, life will be happy in heaven.

Keep on the principle that the wicked person will not calm his life. That way our HD will be filled with goodness.

When we try, though still jauuuuh once with the word succeed, our degree is already higher level than the blm tried

Well in NIGERIA the July 4th is no even known by most people,so it's not celebrated here, so we all went to school today like a normal day and had lectures also

In UK, there is no holiday on 4th July. The only benefit is as U.S. has an off so the workload here for the companies who are having the head office in U.S. is less.

So one can come early from office and it is usually a easy day in U.K. And gals can celebrate every day with their shopping :D (lolz) we dont need a specific day to shop :D

On the 4th of July, the United States observes a federal holiday in honor of the Declaration of Independence. This holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by delegates from the 13 colonies.

If the Fourth of July falls on a Sunday, the federal observed holiday is the following Monday, July 5. If the Fourth of July falls on a Saturday, the observed holiday for most federal employees (but not all) is Friday, July 3.

July 4 is the commemoration in the Philippines of the Philippine Republic Day, or also known as the Filipino-American Friendship Day.

It was formerly an official holiday designated as Independence Day, celebrating the signing of the Treaty of Manila, which granted Philippine Independence from the United States of America in 1946. And now was celebrated during on every 12th of July.

So we can't say that we celebrate a holiday every July 4 here in Philippines now.. :)

I'm not happy on vacation. In those rare times when I have three hours with no work I have to do, I'm terribly uncomfortable.

I can only see on youtube 4th july celebration because i have to work from morning till night

Happiness radiates like the fragrance from a flower and draws all good things toward you.

No holiday here in Nigeria. Currently in the city of Abeokuta, it rained for half of the day and the sun shined for the rest

Congratulations to the winners. Many thanks to Bunnypuncher for this contest.
In my country, on July 5, we celebrate the Declaration of the Venezuelan Independence Act. That day is not workable. We take the opportunity to rest a little, visit the family, and depend on how our budget is to have a few beers

Chilling out on the bed in your hotel room watching television, while wearing your own pajamas, is sometimes the best part of a vacation.

Precisely we must think of all the past is sad, think that today is more enjoyable than the past.

For me the 4th of July is not a day of celebration, for strictly personal reasons, that day I lost my sister. in my country it is celebrated on the 5th of July with great joy, with military parades and fireworks.

Coincidentally in Venezuela, our independence day is a day after that in the United States, on July 5, the day no school or work, very little to military parades, this year falls Thursday, my family used to visit my grandmother on the coast, taking advantage of the We call here Friday bridge and moves beyond the weekend

On vacation, you can wear all the colorful and casual clothing that you like, but you must always be elegant.

The pain of being left behind will be an ordinary thing over time ... It is true, but there will always be something new that can replace it.

In Australia we celebrate Australia day. There's fireworks, parades and celebrations around the country. Most Aussies will generally have a BBQ with friends, drink beer and get drunk. You will always hear someone yelling 'Happy Straya day'!! Usely in a drunken bogan voice. Hope you have a great day mate.

Hola en Venezuela celebramos el 5 de Julio, pero ahorita nada que celebrar.
La dictadura en mi país nos tiene azotados del hambre, falta de medicinas, inseguridad y pare de contar.

Wherever I go, I’m watching. Even Vacation, when I’m ini an airport or a railroad station, I look around, snap pictures, and find out how people do things.

That day is a holiday and what I do is sleep a lot.

Well, I usually don’t do much of anything lol. Sometimes I’ll hang out with friends or family. For the past two years though, I watch them shoot fireworks outside my wind. I live next to a lake we’re they put on a fireworks show.

In Nigeria October 1 is of great importance to all Nigerians, its the Independence Day. This day is of great value, because we remember our Heroes that fought for the Country Independence from our colonial masters,Britain. its a day of reflection and joy as we all celebrate together in happiness and fly the Country flag high, to symbolize unity.

I didn't know about Oct 1st for Nigeria. Thanks for sharing the info.

With me a change of trouble is as good as a vacation.

Happy independences day

Today is a day for families and friends to gather together and have a cook-out. After dusk we either start lighting off fireworks at home or go somewhere to watch professional fireworks.

It’s all emotion. But there’s nothing wrong with emotion. When we are in love, we are not rational; we are emotional. When we are on vacation, we are not rational; we are emotional.

I envy people who can just look at a sunset. I wonder how you can shoot it. There is nothing more grotesque to me than a vacation.

My Vocation is my Vacation. I love what I do.

If some people didn’t tell you, you’d never know they’d been away on a vacation.

Happy Independence Day to all Americans!

On holidays we usually go to the beach with the family and we spent two days enjoying it.

Or sometimes we just spend more time with family to take advantage of the time lost because of work.

Every year we vary our routine when it comes to vacations that is the most fun of all not always do the same.
