Art Prompt Writing Contest #6

in #contest7 years ago

Earlier today I announced @tanglebranch as the winner for my Writing Prompt Art Contest. The winning entry is shown below.

This is the fiction writing phase of my contest. I require original works of fiction, using the painting above as a prompt and a springboard from which to exercise your literary imaginations. Anywhere from 500 to 1000 words will suffice, but I won't be terribly picky unless the judging is close.

Once you have written your stories, link them below in the replies. There will be one overall winner who will receive 20 SBD, plus the SBD payout from this post. Thanks to the generosity of @authorofthings and @negativer, the prize pot is increased by 15 SBD, therefore I will have 3 runners up who will all win 5 SBD each.

This contest runs for the next seven days and will close at midnight UTC / GMT November 24th.

All upvotes to increase the liquid rewards for the winner are appreciated, as are resteems to get the word out. Thank you.

I would encourage everyone to submit their work for critique and editing at The Writer's Block before this contest closes. More eyes on your work may give it the extra polish it needs to win.

Good luck everyone!

Even though I only had 37 minutes to submit, I think I got it in with seconds to spare. lol

Adding mine! Went with a bit of humor for a change of pace.

I had a little bit of an alternative interpretation on this prompt, and the one little idea spawned a whole world in my mind. Might just have to go novella with this one some day.

@gmuxx,
I’m sorry I missed this contest. I am traveling visiting my parents. I wanted to enter, however, my mother is not doing well and I spent all my time that I could with her.
Thanks for the contest.
@Lymmerik

No need to explain dude, life happens. Sorry to hear about your mother.

Thank you for running the contest @gmuxx. Here is my entry

OMG I cannot believe I didn't see this earlier! Woe is me. And I was waiting for it, too! Steemit is a cruel mistress - spend a couple days offline and it leaves you in the dust.

I'll have to make do with reading the entries and participating next time!

That body language is troublesome.. I am not certain I'm ready to write about an angsty teen, who looks as if he's slightly scared or wearded out by what might just as well be a mermaid. Love the backdrop though. ^^
