Hello everyone!πŸ™Œ. Today I will take you through a very important practice on Steemit which may also hinder your success on this great platform. I will make my post very brief because I am making use of a faulty mobile device to type. Now let's get down to Business πŸ™Œ.

Have you been wondering why some people gain alot of followers within few months? Are you not astonished when you see some of your followers wallet with huge amounts of SBDs and Steem? Have you ever wondered why some users are always supported by some certain people most especially whales?Well, these are some of the great benefit you gain when you engage in Contests 😁. But there are some newbies who don't really know what contest is all about which makes them have wrong perception towards contest on Steemit. This is why we have to do this brief review of what contest is all about before we can proceed in the main body of the article.

What is Contest All About?

images (26).jpeg

Contest is a competition created by an individual or some certain group of people for the sole purpose of reward exchange between the creator and the participants. This means the main purpose of participating in contest and creating contest is "reward". This means organisers are able to determine their winners after creating a competition with set of rules and goals to be achieved by the participants. The organisers may decide to choose 10 lucky winners, 20 lucky winners, 3 winners or even 1 depending on their choice of selection and they reward the lucky winner(s) accordingly.

How will the Contest Organisers get Rewarded?

Firstly, the contest organisers are rewarded if the participants take part in their contest. This justify a sense of joy in them whenever people take part in their contest. They are very happy as this seems to be a great means of love and support whenever the participants take part in their contest.

Secondly, Some of them get rewarded by placing some strategical rules which we enable them earn by creating contest. Example is when you are told to upvote, follow and Resteem their post. In this way, some of them earn cool cash by setting this rule and it makes them gain more followers and add more money into their wallet.

Thirdly, some people organise contest for the sole purpose of advertising a product. There are lots of contest about ICOs, Cryptos, Blockchains, and many others. The organised contest will enable the product to get more popular on the internet and create more traffic. This also makes the product trend because people start reading about it and they also start writing about it which increases the publicity of the product.

Lastly, some people create contest just for earning without fulfilling their promise. I call this kind of contest "self centred contest". The participants aren't benefiting for their hard work because the organisers made a lot of money by making use of the participants. In such contest, the participants are required to follow some certain rules and regulations which will only be for the benefit of the organisers and when it's time to pay the participants, the organisers are nowhere to be found. This kind of contest should not be encouraged on Steemit and it should be completely eradicated. I suggest @steemcleaners should take voluntary action about people creating such contests if they exist.

Sharing My Little Experience About Engaging In Contest

As a newbie, I don't actually believe in engaging in contest when I first joined Steemit because I do have the mindset that "I can never win". I just had to focus on writing about what comes into my mind, posting tutorials, and sharing my Mathematical knowledge with everyone on Steemit. After all my strenuous effort compiling quality and quantity posts with my mobile phone, I still end up with low payout. I kept on thinking about what I could do to get noticed by the community and start gaining cool payout. I tried all my possible best, no one still reads my blogs or supports me. I sometimes felt like giving up but I remembered what @shello do tell me that "my hard work will surely be noticed one-day, but I should just keep Steeming". I kept on Steeming till I came across @surpassinggoogle whom organised @ulogs for just posting your daily activities. I decided to give it a try and I made a payout of $1.58. I was very happy making such amount and this increased my hope about success on Steemit.
After my little stay on this great platform, I met lots of people and I learnt alot from them. I got to meet @johnskotts and @samest from @airhawk-project. They organised a contest on Ezira with the support of @dahaz159and I was lucky to be amongst the participant of the contest. But unfortunately I wasn't among the lucky winners πŸ˜‘. I never had good writing skills back then and I didn't even follow the prescribed rules and that made me lost the contest. I didn't feel bad about it because I knew I wasn't gonna win at the first instance due to my improper write up 😁. But every participant were all rewarded with something.

My love for contest developed when I won 10SBD from @jonbit for my Mathematics Tutorial post which you can find here https://steemit.com/contest/@jonbit/winner-announcement-10-sbd-contest-02. This developed my wallet very drastically. I was very happy and my hope increased in taking part in contest. My phone is already hanging 😧. Let's delve into the main body of the article.

Some Great Lessons I Learnt

Here are some great lessons behind contest.

  • MEANS OF EARNING Contest has been some people major means of earning money on Steemit. An advantage of you taking part in writing contest is that your payout on Steemit isn't affected by the contest. This means you gain your payout on Steemit and you gain your reward if you are a lucky winner of the contest. Thus, you have two chances of gaining with just a single post.

  • MEANS OF LEARNING SOMETHING NEW: I was fortunate to take part in a contest organised by @crypto.piotr in support of @cotton.coin which has to do with Cotton Coin. I was able to learn more about Cotton, Cotton Industry and blockchain technology. This actually added more to my knowledge about things I don't know before. I felt happy after taking part in the contest as I was able to gain more knowledge 😁.

  • MEANS OF SOCIAL INTERACTION: Engaging in contest will enable you meet new people and gain more followers. Remember these two factors also plays a major role in achieving greatness on Steemit. Sometimes you may be lucky to meet a whale or someone who will keep supporting you and commending your effort.

  • MEANS OF SELF DEVELOPMENT:Whenever you take part in contest, you develop yourself automatically either by writing, reading or other activities. The type of contest you involve yourself in will develop you more in that field and you will also meet your equal during such contest.

  • MEANS OF GETTING EMPLOYED:Are you surprised you can find job through contest? Well that's the fact!. You may get lucky to be involved in part of the created organised by the organisers. They won't wana loose talented people like you, so they employ you to start working for them for the development of their project.

Thank you for your time. Always make sure you take part in reasonable and valuable contest you are capable of doing because it will surely add one or more of the qualities above to your life
