He took a bite out of the sugar cane and stared at his friends as they layed on the ground.
He'd fought bravely for it and he stood above them victorious.
Chike had earned the right to call himself the gang leader. All the others had tried but he had bested them with little effort.
In this world it's survival of the fittest and he was the fittest.
His foes all layed on the ground, still feeling the pain from his blows.
Chike stared them down, as he took that first bite, the taste of victory never tasted better.

Wow this is a nice story, good choice of words and a different concept from what I've been reading you didn't end it with the image instead you started. What i dont understand is why your story hasn't been upvoted so much, I think you need to fill your friends in on it.

Amos! Amos ooo!!! Veronica called out.
Yes aunty see me here, amos answered,as he snuk into the compound.
Where were you for the last 30 minutes? Veronica asked accompanying the question with a hard slap, which landed amos on the ground breaking his ankle, it was painful but he didn't cry,he was used to it, looking at her walk away feeling contented with the pain she had inflicted on him,he bit the container he had been hiding all this while, and thought to himself,"i will do you something",he smiled at the container and its poisonous content...he was going to be finally free!

Beautiful write up

fantastic write up and efficient transfer of information.

This is my entry

After the fire that decimated our tattered house almost a week ago my family was placed in ruin. My father who was the bread winner of the family didn't see any bread to win for us. We were always hungry, my stomach, forever sounding like a distuned French horn. Then things grew worse when I got separated from my pack, my kinsmen my family. I don't know how I wandered into a stingy neighborhood like this one, where every kiosk owner owns a big knife and eyes at the back of their head. I haven't eaten anything since then and I know I would have broken the Guinness world record of most days scaled through without eating. Then I saw a piece of bread with a weakling boy such as my self. "This is my chance" I said. After some minutes of tug of war the piece of bread was finally mine.

Goodluck... I hope u win

My goodness this is creativity @ehisoria. Wish you success in this.

Nice one

Thank you

Nice write up here 👍👍👍

Thanks bro

That's me up there, holding firm to the little piece of meal, taking my time to eat through it. Who knows, it might be my last.

My clothes begging to be washed.
We were not rich, but at least, we could of a balanced diet. I was going very well till it happened at that ungodly hour. That night, i saw my mom and dad shot on the spot by infidels. I don't know why, but i was spared and kicked into a van like a criminal. I sat in the middle of two heafty men with my face down, drawning my sorrows.
I was sold into salvary and warned not to disobey my master nor his household. Was this really my portion? I pondered.

I had no issue obeying my master because i was well trained my parent. But you can't push someone to the wall and still expect him to be quiet.
For three days, i was giving no food, neither water. My eyes became weary and the worms in my stomach where already protesting. I could take it no more. I tiptoed down to the kitchen but unfortunately, i saw my masters son right there in the kitchen, eating. He caught sight of me and yelled at me to go back to my cave. Covering his nose. With the hunger in me, i ran towards him and gave him a slap that made him fall to the ground. I took the last piece of bread remaining and started eating it with my eyes wild opened, starring at him. Never tempt a wounded lion i told him.

FOCUS
No matter what I do, I maintain my focus. Even though I have no one to call my own, I maintain my focus. Even though I have no helper but God, I maintain my focus. My watchword always is "progress with joy".

I grew up on the streets after my mum died without disclosing the identity of my father. I live with a couple of other homeless kids. We hustle together, united by the common bond of homelessness. We wash cars, sell scrap iron and hawk items to make a living. The only supplements we get apart from this our "jobs" come from one old man down the street who donates food to us on a regular basis.

Given all these challenges, I have a focus. I intend one day to rise to a position of power so I can help the helpless. Having gone through a lot of suffering, I daresay I know how it feels to suffer.
This is my goal in life.
This is my focus.
I am Jonah Jay

This is a very detailed and nice story...
And it could have been approved in no time.
But the story should be about the last picture attached the post. That of the little boy.
Thanks... I await your new entry 💝💝💝

It is about the last picture of the boy. I guess I should remove the picture I put then

Thank you

A black boys childhood

Screaming in pain as weeps lashed my head.
Mum please I won't do it again.
As though she didn't hear me, she flogged me continuously.
I won't beg again I said repeatedly

Did I bring you up to beg?
Don't I feed you properly?

I'm sorry Mummy.. Please forgive me.
She kept flogging till she was satisfied
Then she said

If I ever see you beg, I will flog hell out of you.
Get away from my front.

I left her front sobbing. Since our house is face me I face you, I didn't want my friends to see me as a weakling so I immediately cleaned the tears off my eyes.
Almost immediately my neighbors kids came out of their rooms with plenty kuli kuli and I couldn't resist the temptation... I just had to beg again..
Please give me I begged
As I stretched my hand to collect
I heard my mum call my name

Johnny you are begging again

I froze in shock.. 'Cos I knew immediately that I'm dead.

HERE IS MY ENTRY :

I remember growing up in the remote area of Far East Ebonyi state. Growing up was no fun at all. Going to school without shoes on especially empty stomach was no child's play at all. The thought of giving up was interesting but what would become my fate after having givien up was the real problem.
In all my growing up years, an important lesson I got from my grandmother kept me going. My grandma before she passed out, gave me a piece of rock and like the young man up there, she said bite life really hard if you must ever make a difference in your generation .No matter how many times it hurts your teeth, bite it hard until you cut through, she said.

Life is not a bed of roses so you take every chance you get. Man has to work his way from place to place because life is a game of luck, but a real man makes his own luck. but on a second thought, not all men can be born with a silver spoon, then i thought to myself i have air in my lungs so as every other human, i also wake up every morning like other humans not knowing what the day will bring, who am going to meet. though, i don't sleep under a bridge, and so i think life is a gift and i don't intend on wasting it so as to make each day count, this thought keeps coming back to my memory at every moment when i see the boy with a piece of bread in is mouth looking up to me, it always makes me feel like we had an unfinished discussion, then i thought again, why don't i make a change so i walked up to him with a smile and said "never give up boy" then i reached out for my wallet and gave him a thousand dollar, he drop the bread and walked away with a big smile. with joy in my heart i was so glad i had made a new count and also save a generation.

Good morning!

Many people passed as the time passed by but nobody cared to look at the small black bundle which cuddled against a ragged cloth. Only parts that visible on that bundle was small baby teeth and a pair of eyes.He sighed as his stomach rumbled. He shivered as the cold wind ruffled his cloth and touched his skin. A car has passed and something soft bumped on his head.He bent over and picked the parcel. It was a half-eaten sandwich. His mouth drooled on the sight and he stuffed it into his mouth and thought"I'll live to fight another day".

Waooooooo... This had my heart....

I always hated my master. Right from the time I started working with him, he had always found ways punish for little things. It was as though he was taking out his frustrations on me. Imagine him beating because I forgot to close one of the cabinet drawers in the kitchen.

My parent caused this though. They sent me to slave here in the first place. As usual, I was te eat bread while my master ate jollof. I sprinkled peper into his food before serving him.

I watched him cry over his meal while I chewed on my bread like a badass!

I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth but it turned plastic when my father died...the family took all the properties leaving me and my mother hunger ravaged and leading me to becoming a pathological thief at the age fof twelve..
The look of hunger on his mother's face saddened him. He ran into a crowded street, sweating profusely. He spotted a nicely dressed man and ran to him.
“Go away from me,” the man scowled.
Peter followed him “Please, sir. My mother is dying.”
“If you don’t stop following me, I will slap you.
The man gave him a hard slap on the side of the face.he saw a piece of crumbled bread on the floor and picked it up grinning he said "I will survive".

Little you may call me,
But the thoughts that run through my little mind are of the galaxies away,
Though feeble i maybe, it is not a criterion for judging what i will be,
Just as little as the larks soaring the depths of the skies in the dark,
Inexperienced, you may call me, but i still have the time to make things right by me,
As stupid as i may seem, don't ever disregard my worries and my sighs,
Because i am the light of your future to come,
Make it right with the eggs and you will see the chickens will fly like an eagle,
Make it right with the cubs, you will see you are grooming the kings of the jungle,
Make it right with this little star, and he shall show you the way of the constellation.
Though callow i am, you will be surprised what the indulgence of my little wits will bring,
I am your little soldier, mould me into the warrior i may become,
Still I am your rusty sword, make my handling as fine as that of excalibur.

Thought of nature not been in favour of me, came to mind couz Soonest all of my age group regard me a nobody all with the dirty and unkept cloth am used to. But still all of these were not my decision but still with smiles I had a hope of a better tomorrow.

Here's is my entry. Thanks for this wonderdul opportunity.

In the village of Anambra, not a day passed without a white man coming to take some of the kids away. My parents were scared out of their wits that I may fall victim to such vility, so they tucked me far away in a distant house. The house was fairly dilapidated with unsavory scars etched all over it. Sometimes when it rained it would seep through it and i would be made to stay up all night. Other days when the sun scorched so hard, it felt like the building would crumble down onto my head so I'd stay outside and watch on as my heart sunk into my belly. It wasnt until the white man finally lost the mantle of leadership to the Anambra people that my parents came to get me. When they came, I wore a saggy old sleeve matted with dirt. My daddy handed me a small rock-like fruit which i couldnt name, and told me we were free. I bit into its hardness and allowed the dryness of the day dissipate from my face as freedom lit up a fiery confidence in me.

And this.... Exceptional :D

Thanks so much guys for this contest. Let me participate in the contest with this short story.

A couple of years back when I knew nothing about germs, bacteria and so on, I would put anything in my mouth out of innocence as long as I believe it would not hurt me.
It was so hard for my parents to correct me, I was so rough always looking rugged and smiling after committing any act of wickedness.
All my age mates dear not confront me, I was known to be cruel due to the fighting skills I learnt in kung-fu movies I watched in those days. I was referred to as BADOO.

Damn! This is deep. I love it.

Thanks a bunch

The picture above is about a boy called Kayode

Kayode was born in a remote area where there is no social amenity - no light, no good roads or education. His father wanted him to go to school but his farm business was not booming. His father taught him a little about education and the need to be educated in case an opportunity arise. One day, Kayode went out to play football with his peers. He stumbled upon some learned people taking pictures. He photo-bombed the shoot. He gave the camera man different poses the best way he could. The picture went viral and good people looked for him. Today, he is a in a private primary school and also a child model. The picture above is from one of his photo shoots.

The moral of the story is: Never give up, opportunity will definitely come and your story will definitely change around for good. Thank you all for reading Kayode's rag-riches story.

All i want to be is a soccer star,,i want to be greater than the Peles, the Rivaldos ,the Ronaldos ,the Messis.I sneaked out on saturday like i always do to meetup with friends and enjoy the game that brings happiness to my soul. The first half just ended when i saw my close friend crying and told me all had been lost,,my treasured parents had been murdered by the dreaded sects from the neighbouring village and the entire Village we live had been razed down.Who will pay my school fee? how do i feed? am under aged,,how do i survive all alone ? now i find myself in Lagos, dreaded Ghetto of Ajegunle begging, washing plates at canteens to eat,,but guess what,? am a SURVIVOR..My dreams wont die,,am still gonna play Soccer and get to the peak..

Street begging? No, it wasn’t really street begging. He wasn’t used to walking and begging on the streets, but the physical difficulty of life itself was not what Ali felt most.
He was beginning to feel the pressure of his losing his Dad so early in life. Like a hunter inexperienced in the camouflage of his game he found the streets as his only source of living.
It was an unfavorable condition for a child his age. But, anyway, he needed to live so he did look to the street much like a street hunter he suddenly had become.

I MADE IT...
I was hungry
I was stressed
I was tired
I never gave up
I was determined
I struggled to feed
I struggled to sleep
I struggled to bath
I struggled for good education
I struggled to pass
I finished with good grades
I struggled to keep up with my mates
I got a job
Am now comfortable , nd i tell u ""when you fail ,try again , u are not a failure until you fail to try again""
I look back at those days with a smile on my face......nd i say I MADE IT!!!!

Edet's Diary..

I have been living with my uncle in lagos ever since i recognise myself, life in the city with my uncle is very terrible for me but as a kid then there is nothing i could do that time. My uncle's wife and two kids are just like a bone in my neck as well. I spend most of my nights sleeping in the kitchen, my uncle managed to register me in a public primary school very far to the house that i will have to walk extra miles before getting home. Afterwhich i will get home drop my rag looking bag and hawk groundnut under the hot sun. My uncle's wife is a very wicked and no nonsence woman she only wants the best for her own children. Each time we are on a visit to see my parents they will buy me good cloths, trying to convince them that am been taken care of well..i will fall down to my mother's leg and wept bitterly to explain how am living over there to her but she wouldn't listen to me. The gifts brought from lagos for them would have filled her heart...Will i continue to live like this..
Am writing this short article to explain my plights to fellow Nigerians, pls i need your advice.

Not being secured have the ability to adjust and mold our minds inorder to live with everything that is bad, like crying on the inside while smiling on the outside in which creates pain but, I have the answer, forget about what you thought and embrace what you feel as an individual.

I'm resilient,
you can't put me down, I'm a fighter,
you rate me as lowly, you look at me with scorn,
But your opinion right now of who I am or of what i could never be cannot deter me.
I know that that at the tail end of it all
,im gonna be who and everything i set out to be.
Im confident, im strong .
