Random Acts Of Kindness: Donating At Least 20% Of All My Liquid Rewards + LOGO CONTEST

in #contest7 years ago (edited)

I attribute most of my success on Steemit to the fact that when starting out, I came to give, not take. I'd find projects where other users needed help and dedicated a substantial amount of time to those endeavors. I've advocated doing this in the past, and think it's still excellent advice for anyone new to Steemit.

It's tough to get votes at first, but when you spend a lot of effort helping out others, votes come easily. It shouldn't be about the votes, though - It should come from a place of wanting to help out and make friends.

While I'm still involved in a couple of small projects on Steemit, they aren't taking up nearly as much time as I've committed in the past. Therefore, I decided it's time to do more giving. This time, however, it's going to be monetary giving.

A while back, another Steemian posted something to this extent, although I don't recall who it was. But the idea is this: Send some STEEM/SBD to random users totally out of the blue, asking nothing in return. Just send it as a "Random act of kindness."

I'm going to commit, at minimum, 20% of my liquid earnings from each post to donations or these randoms acts of kindness.

Depending on how much a post makes, sometimes the gifts will be 1 SBD, sometimes more. Here's a screenshot of a few gifts I sent out today:

LOGO CONTEST for "Random Acts Of Kindness"

  • Minimum 5 SBD goes to the winner (Add 5 SBD for every $50 this post makes)
  • Submit your logo in the comments
  • Steem colors preferred
  • High enough resolution to fill most of the page
  • The winner will be chosen in a day or two

I plan to use the hashtag #rak (Random Acts of Kindness) and the winning logo in all of my posts to remind people that a portion of the payout will be gifted to random users. My hope is that if I do this enough, other Steemians will decide to do it as well. With more giving, I think the world would be a more pleasant place.

I think it is such a good idea! And thank you for sharing your experience and how you got there you are now. For me helping it is something that you can do if you care about people. And sometimes it doesn't take much from you - only you time%) Random Acts of Kindness should exist not only here on Steemit but in the world%) Who knows maybe it will be one day%) I do not know if I am late but so sure want to contribute to it.

I like this one! The hashtag is #rak, not #ram. Any chance you can change that?

Hey%) Yes, for sure. I am terribly sorry - I must have been so tired%(( I did it web-optimized so should open anytime. I just noticed last time that you gif in signature was not opening on my screen so I thought it might be not optimized. All the best and will support Random Acts of Kindness - the fantastic idea and thank you once more for it! Hope this project will grow not only here on Steemit but have a bigger future in the world%)

Thanks! This one was my favorite, so I just sent you the 5 SBD.

I just got it and can't really believe it %) This is the biggest reward I got so far!! But apart of it, I really enjoyed doing it and for me - this is the most precious part of all%)) I like people inspiring me and hope this image will inspire people to do random acts of kindness.
If you do not mind on a separate note, can you educate me a bit about Steemit? I noticed that you are using #rak so what does it mean? Is it a separate project/account or you are curating it? I am terribly sorry for asking such silly questions%(( I would really grateful if you can explane it to me or at least give a couple of links to articles where I can read about it. Thank you in advance

Here's my logo design for the contest. I wasn't sure if it needed the #RAK on it or not. Great idea you have...I think it will catch on!

I like this design. The cut out newspaper pieces really reinforce the idea of randomness and the Steem coin going into the container is super cool.

Thank you. A little Photoshop magic ;)

Wow! What an excellent intitiative... and thank you for doing this! You just reminded me why I am here on Steemit, and why I believe in the transformative power of this place. To be honest, I have felt my inspiration lagging for the last few days... mostly as a result of seeing post after post after post discussing "abusive self-upvoting" and "minnows begging for follows and votes."

So thank you for this... AND for the gift I received earlier!

I really hope this turns into a trend... I'm definitely going to do some of this, myself. This just fits right in with a great post @stellabelle wrote some weeks back, describing Steemit as a "Gift Economy."

What a beautiful idea! When is the contest deadline ?

I didn't have a hard deadline, I was just going to pick the winner in a day or two when submissions seemed to stop coming in. But maybe I should make the deadline when this post pays out? I edited the post, so instead of a flat 5 SBD, the winner will now get a minimum of 5 SBD, and for every $50 this post makes, another 5 SBD will be added.

Thank you for helping out the other Steemians. It is wonderful to see! #rak #payitforward

YESSSSSS!!! Someone else who values random acts of kindness as much as I do! On Steemit and in life! Thank you for this! ❤️ I'm not sure if it's too late but I'll try to get a logo done too! 😊

ah, you have a good heart!

@shehahigator this is fantastic idea. Sorry I didn't see it earlier. As you are maybe familiar I am giving at least 10% of all earnings made on Steemit to charities.
Can you help me to help. Please, consider reading my new post and upvote if you find it useful. https://steemit.com/steemit/@cryptogirl1/if-steem-it-do-not-change-it-won-t-survive-opening-debate

Thanks for the #rak ! It won't be forgotten! Great idea!

Awesome! Please post it in the comments when you're done

Yes, a GIF could be cool!
