My point exactly, I could just search and report any plagiarized content with the source so you don't have to do it yourself, and the contest can continue

You can get him or someone else to search and report plagiarized contents with the source. Like an assistant judge sort of for screening the entries. That's how most contests on steemit work.
Why not just warn people / flag them / disqualify them for future X number of contests, the people who steal content? It otherwise seems unfair to those who put an effort while replying.
