Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Quite a few industrious Steemians run contests regularly. Here is a list of the ones we know about at the moment. All of these have been running for months so you can count on their posted schedule.
Be sure to check each account and look for the contest name as the links change each week. Also remember to read the full contest description as the rules and prize values sometimes change.
@freewritehouse
The folks over at @freewritehouse run three contests each week. All of them are designed to encourage community engagement and highlight other's work. Besides the prizes from the @freewritehouse account, they are always interested in hearing from anyone who will sponsor a contest and so they can offer even bigger prizes.
A Favorite Freewrite You Read contest runs every Tuesday for just 24 hours. You need to read some freewrites written (you can read this post to see what they are), and then comment on the contest posts about which ones you liked best and why. If they choose your comment you win shares of SBI.
Recommend your Favorite Freewrite Poem is a poetry version of the Favorite Freewrite contest and it runs every Friday. Make a comment about a freewrite poem you loved and you could win SBI shares. But be quick! When Friday is over, so is the contest - until the next week that is.
We-Write is a new challenge they’ve just started in the last few weeks. It runs every other Wednesday (next one is July 25th) with a prize of 4 SBI divided among winners.
Finish the Story Contest
This weekly contest is run by @f3nix. He recently launched the @bananafish account which now hosts the contest which runs every Wednesday. He posts the beginning of a story, and you finish it. Then you post your complete story for everyone to read. The winner, as chosen by the @bananafish god, wins SBI shares. The important thing to know about this contest is that it's an ongoing creativity workshop, so if you miss one deadline you can participate in the next.
Paying it Forward
In the spirit of helping new Steemians, this contest focuses on curating great content and is run by @thedarkhorse. It runs weekly on Mondays and asks that you find two "High Quality Original Content Blog Posts" to recommend for curation. Four judges decide which recommendations were the best and multiple winners get SBI shares. Follow @thedarkhorse to see the latest contest post and read it for full details.
ZapFic Writing Contest
Like super short stories? Try writing one in 232 characters or fewer for your chance to win SBI in this contest run by @felt.buzz. Every Wednesday he posts a new prompt to use for your very short story. Be sure to read the rules on this one as you'll need a Zappl account to qualify, but your stories will be automatically posted to Steem too.
Steemit World Map Challenge
Travel the world with your fellow Steemians in the #swmchallenge run by @runicar. You simply need to share a blog about a place you visited and share it on the map (read the post to see how). You’ll need pictures and good descriptions if you want to get noticed and win the SBI shares.
Caption Contest
Help celebrate digital art by creating creative captions for the week’s selected picture. Read all the rules carefully to be sure your entry qualifies for the SBI prizes.

How to get on the recurring contest list
Do you run a regular contest that you’d like to see in our recurring contest section? We have some simple criteria you need to have to be included:
- SBI shares must be part of the prizes given out.
- Contest needs to be running 5 weeks or 10 contests on a consistent schedule, whichever comes first.
If you think your contest qualifies let us know in the comments or on our Discord channel and we’ll check it out.
Instead of trying to be thoroughly comprehensive (and then end up not publishing) like we have before, we have only included the most recent contests (skipping duplicates). If we missed yours, feel free to share it in the comments for our readers to find, and to stop by our Discord server to post it in the contests channel.
Enrollment
If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:
Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We are not currently accept SBD for enrollments. Please allow up to 7 days for your enrollment to be processed.

We handle various functions in batches to make the most efficient use of the time we have. Unfortunately, that means the oldest members pending enrollment are past 7 days this week. We are working to get caught up again.
Fortunately, our automated system is nearing release and the times of long delays are soon coming to an end.

@steembasicincome can you check my account @direwolf. @vintherinvest paid 3 more shares the day before yesterday and 2 a couple of months ago plus I had 2 to begin with I think and the upvotes from your account are still just 0.01 $. Is there something wrong?
What's wrong is that the STEEM price is very sad lately, and it drives the value of all upvotes on the blockchain.
Current weekly income per SBI share is about 0.009, and you post 7x per week. With 8 shares, you should see (0.009 * 8) = 0.072 weekly or (0.072 / 7) = 0.01 per post. That's in line with what you're describing.

Please, please, please get through the backlog. The @steembasicincome liquid Steem balance just keeps growing. It needs to go in the other direction.
A lot of people seem quite frustrated.
With manual processes, just adding a full day of enrollment to the tracking can take more than an hour, especially when there are a lot of people that don't follow our published syntax guidelines. We also have to add everyone from the tracking into the data capture, update their upvoting and posting histories, make sure voting power is being managed effectively across pools, and regularly rebalance each pool to keep everyone's voting weights in line with their posting frequency.
All of this using tools that were not designed for hundreds of accounts, much less the 3500+ active members we have, or the 5000+ total members.
I'm sorry that people seem a little frustrated at times, and I'm not happy about being behind on enrollments either. I can promise you nobody is more frustrated than me. But we are in the final stretch, so just be patient a little longer and any missed value from slow enrollments will be caught up when we release our new system.
