Are people in India panicking about the Corona virus ?

As I write this post, the count in confirmed cases of Corona virus in India stands at 6. People in India are definitely in a concerned state, however panic is not the state of most of the people here. The count of 6 also includes an Italian national who had visited India as a tourist in the state of Rajastan.

In Kerala, a state in India, about 2 years ago there was another virus that caused a wide spread scare, it was the Nipah virus that was believed to have come also from bats. It was even more deadly than the Corona virus and claimed 17 lives. It was a sad year for not only Kerala but also for India.

But there is one thing that was positive after the Nipah virus outbreak, health officials now had experience in their hands. They were fully capable of knowing how to control and isolate the virus from spreading to more people or outside the state.

The initial 3 students who were students returning from Wuhan, China were immediately tested from the airport and the Corona virus was detected. They were brought in to a hospital with the proper facilities and expert doctors. After weeks of treatment all the 3 students were successfully cured from the disease. they have now been sent back to their homes where they will still live in isolation for a few weeks as an extra safety measure.

But now the capital city of Delhi has reported one confirmed case of Corona virus in a patient who had returned from Italy. And with another confirmed case reported in Telangana the current active cases of the disease stands at 3.

But overall people in India are positive and still have their trust in the medical heroes within the country. And with all the precautions and health check up posts at the airports in place, the spread of the disease is being closely monitored and controlled.
